Only 2 hours from DC but you will feel like you are truly "away" from the city... very attractive place with gracious and accommodating hosts, beautiful views and terrific food at the Guesthouse restaurant. Lots to explore in the region. Overall very pleased with the trip.
The 5th star is missing only because we had a bit of tricky time finding our bearings in the complex on arrival around 9pm on a Friday - we lamented that the room didn't have a minifridge and we were freezing the first night because we didn't know how to adjust the temperature in the room. We also missed breakfast the next morning because we didn't know it was a "come when called or miss out" situation at 9am (breakfast is served all together family style). All questions were graciously answered and solved the next day (the guesthouses have communal kitchenette/lounge spaces - big fridge!), but, since there is no cell phone service and no hard line phones in room we would have greatly appreciated a little instruction or guide book in our rooms to clue us in to the particulars.More
