“Heaps of charm!”
Reviewed August 26, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We rented this gorgeous thatched cottage in Great Tew for one week. It is picture perfect with the local Pub 'falkland arms" down the street (I did review on trip advisor). Compact kitchen with all the necessities, cosy living/dining area with open fireplace. Upstairs 3 small bedrooms, 1 single 2 double and one family bathroom. 5 nights would be the perfect stay as it's small. Lovely bottle of wine and flowers on arrival.

“Perfect cottage”

My wife and I booked this cottage for a 4 day break. Outside it is an old stone cottage, part of a row of 5, with a thatched roof, very pretty. Inside it has been modernized without losing its character and has all mod cons. with everything you need for a short or long stay. It was perfectly clean and well presented with good quality linen and fittings. We had a very pleasant and peaceful stay here and will almost certainly return. The village is small and quaint, with one shop - open occasionally - and an old village pub.

“Beautiful, Peaceful Location”
Reviewed March 13, 2014 for a stay in March 2014

Beautiful cottage, well furnished - felt like a treat to stay there. Great village with bags of character. Some good walks in all directions, heading from the cottage. A very peaceful location, felt like a world away from the rat-race! Good food and drinks at the Falkland Arms.

“Chocolate Box Reality!”
Reviewed February 23, 2014 for a stay in February 2014

Bluebell Cottage is the dream 'Chocolate Box' cottage, to die for pretty and in a quintessentially English village. The cottage is every thing you could wish a holiday home to be, and although out in the country it has a fabulous pub, serving excellent beers and food, right on the doorstep. There are an assortment of historic towns and cities within les than an hours drive and always the cottage, the log fire and the Falklands Arms to come home to! Now that we have found it we will be coming back and bring friends to enjoy the experience.

“Lovely Cottage”
Reviewed February 19, 2014 for a stay in February 2014

Recently returned from a long weekend in Oxfordshire where we stayed at Bluebell Cottage. The weather was grim but the cottage was lovely, it was well appointed, the kitchen well equipped, the beds comfortable and the whole place was spotlessly clean. It's well located too for visiting the local area, from here we visited other towns/villages, took a day trip to Oxford and Blenheim is not far away (although this was closed at the time of our visit).

We'd happily return if visiting the area again.

“Bliss under a thatch!”
Reviewed February 9, 2014 for a stay in February 2014

This stay was a belated Christmas present for my children and their partners, so needed to fulfil high expectations on my behalf; it definitely did not disappoint.

We arrived in the dark on a rainy day and walked into a little bit of sunshine, welcomed by a lovely vase of fresh flowers, accompanied by a sweet card and a much appreciated bottle of red!

It took moments for the place to warm up, as the heating was already on low. We found tea, coffee, sugar and milk supplied in the kitchen and more than adequate utensils for our needs. A plethora of beautiful pottery bowls to hold our lemons, eggs, olives etc.. I had bowl envy!

The fire was well stocked with an assortment of fire lighters, kindling and logs, which satisfied the pyromania within all of our party!

The bedrooms were really pretty; all tastefully accessorised with beautiful throws and cushions over the pristine white linen and thick white fluffy towels a plenty. The beds themselves were extremely comfortable and soft enough for a princess not to be troubled by a pesky pea.

We awoke to glorious sunshine on our first morning, which accentuated the beauty of our surrounding countryside. We found an ideal gentle walk, via Google......Walks in Great Tew, which took around 1.5 hours and proved extremely intetesting, taking in rural delights and beautiful stone dwellings.

The Falkland Arms welcomed us into its heart. 16th Century and as warm as the inglenook fire. We made the mistake of not booking Sunday lunch prior to our arrival, thinking we wouldn't have a problem popping in on Saturday morning to do so. Big mistake, HUGE! Literally no room at the Inn. So do learn by our faux pas. We did manage to sample the food on a Monday lunchtime and thought that we would be the only people there....again, we were wrong; the place was extremely well patronised, which is a great recommendation in itself. The food was very good! Something also worth mentioning was that they were more than happy to help out when we ran out of teabags and ice!

To summarise: beautiful cottage, stunning surroundings; you'd be daft not to book!
