Blacksmith Inn On the Shore
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 9 December 2016

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Blacksmith Inn for two nights in the beginning of December and LOVED it. From the time we walked in, it was cozy and welcoming. The innkeeper welcomed us and showed us around the lobby area a bit. We stayed in room 7 and it was perfect & spacious. There was a simple, yet delicious breakfast each morning downstairs from 8-10am that included muffins (so delicious), yogurt, oatmeal, berries, hard boiled eggs, fruit juices, ect. Then all day long there was coffee, tea, popcorn and cookies that you can help yourself to. Also a huge drawer full of DVD's to bring up to your room if you want a cozy movie night in! It was these nice little perks that truly made this a wonderful and unforgettable stay!! The view from the room was amazing as well.. huge balcony overlooking the lake. Just beautiful. THEN-- as we were checking out in the morning, the innkeeper asked us if we wanted a cup for some coffee or tea to go. Of course, we thought it would just be a styrofoam cup or something, but he brings us out 2 nice travel mugs with the Blacksmith Inn logo on them! It was just a perfect little touch and really topped off the reasoning why we loved this place so much! We would both highly recommend this B&B if you are looking for a cozy, homey-feeling place to stay in Door County!!

Room Tip: We loved room 7 on the 3rd floor!! Couldn't hear anyone else in the building and had a beautiful...

The Blacksmith Inn without question has to be one of the nicest B&B’s in Door County. The second you walk up to the door, you know this B&B has charm. This was our second time staying there and it was just as good as the first. The staff is friendly but not over the top. I believe that they like their guests to have their space but certainly not aloof. It’s located on the main road that runs through Baileys Harbor so you are practically able to walk to all restaurants, shops, etc. And if it’s too far to walk, they have bikes you can use! The rooms are cozy, comfortable, welcoming and all face the harbor. Most important, they are clean and by clean, I mean spotless. The beds are very comfortable and make getting a good night’s sleep no problem. The breakfast is ample to start your day. It consists of a choice of cereals, juices, fruits, yogurts and a delicious granola. There’s always their delectable homemade cookies to nosh on well. Also, they make fresh popcorn (not microwaved, real popcorn!) nightly to snack on. As I mentioned before, they have bicycles for your use as well as kayaks (weather permitting) and a library of dvds that you are welcome to choose from and watch in your room. If you’re looking for a cozy, quitter place to stay that is full of charm, this is the place.

Very much enjoyed our stay at the Blacksmith Inn. The common area is setup very nice. Enjoyed the coziness of the room overlooking the water. The room decor was very period like. Staff were very kind and accommodating.

Our children gave us a gift certificate to stay here. We were so thrilled by the place! We had a lovely room overlooking Lake Michigan. We went in October so it was chilly but the inn was very nice. A simple breakfast is included, and there are always homemade cookies in the eating area. Highly recommend a stay here!

We've been home for 3 weeks now and we're still raving about our stay here. Whirlpool tub in the room, gas fireplaces, hammock on your own private porch, comfortable beds, endless oatmeal cherry cookies, hot cider, and impeccable service. We would recommend this Inn to anyone and everyone. Don't miss this incredible inn and all of it's amenities. They even have black washcloths in the bathroom to remove your makeup without staining the towels. It was easy to book, centrally located, and a wonderful stay. Eat all the cookies you can when you stay here, you'll certainly miss them when you're gone.

Have now stayed here a few times. Each time has been as good as the last. This Inn was again clean, quiet and up to date. This Inn is for adults only, nothing loud or rowdy. Private balconies, hot tubs, each room is decorated nicely. Beds, pillows are super comfortable. Muffins, granola, juice and more for breakfast. Take time to enjoy this place.

Room Tip: Love the Zahn house

This is a very nice B&B with views of the bay (we stayed in the Zahn House). It is a historic home that is decorated for the period. We enjoyed the balcony, fireplace, & comfortable bed. This side of the peninsula is much quieter and works well as a home base for the area.
