I stayed at this hotel last week with my husband, our son and our daughter-in law. We chose it for its location, perfect for the men to ski, and for its spa facilities which seemed ideal for my pregnant daughter-in-law and myself, a non-skier. We booked bed and breakfast, but after enjoying an absolutely wonderful meal in the hotel on the first night we decided to take the meal every evening - first class food for only £20 per head per meal, and the restaurant staff couldn't do more for us. Our rooms were wonderful, extremely well equipped with robes, and even rucksacks for guests to use. Room 202 has corner balconies and a wonderful view of one of the local ski-slopes. Each room is themed and decorated with a particular crystal, the spa facilities are fantastic, again with crystal themes - it is worth using the steam room just to see the amazing rose quartz walls and benches. The crystal theme continues throughout the hotel - there were even crystals in the water jugs on the tables in the restaurant!
Whilst the men were taking advantage of the easily accessible ski pistes, my daughter-in -law and I took full advantage of the facilities- enjoying manicures and massages, and taking lunch in the hotel restaurant , again very reasonably priced. Free soup, sandwiches and cakes were provided for all guests every afternoon. All in all, a wonderful week in a true gem in the Dolomites.

Room Tip: 202 has a fabulous view of the slopes

We have stayed in this hotel over a dozen times in the last 20 years when coming to this village in the Dolomites for skiing in winter or hiking in summer.
The family-run hotel is centrally located in a wonderful village at 1200 m above sea level and at the foot of the slopes. No high rise buildings or large condominiums, but traditional South Tirol architecture and beautiful scenery.
The hotel building dates back from 1505, is a hotel since 1774 and is in the hands of the Frenner family for over 100 years. It has been constantly enlarged and renovated and is now a first class 4star+ hotel. Rooms in different categories, from suites to “better economy”, well furnished and on the highest level of modern comfort. Wifi everywhere, a very large wellness area with 5 different saunas, swimming pool, resting areas, all up to the latest standard, including a large ski room to keep your gear.
But the best is yet to come: the food! The hotel has a restaurant open to the public, but serves its guest on half or full board in separate a salon, with an exquisite cuisine. Local specialties as well as Italian and international dishes, desserts and fine wines. We put on more weight than we like each week we stay here…
From the hotel you can walk to the ski lifts or use the local ski bus free of charge. In summer you can hike locally or a little further away in the beautiful Dolomites, a unique event.

This place has it all. Location, location, location. St. Vigilio is the most charming of small towns in the Dolomites. The rooms are charming. Lovely duvets. Equipped with robes, knapsacks for hiking. The staff- superb. Most helpful in describing the best hikes, offering guided hikes. Half board included the most elaborate breakfast (could also custom order eggs, etc). Dinners delicious. Pastas, meats. Great choices. Had our best wine there (a chianti- their recommendation). Beautiful pool, spa, saunas. I cannot wait to return here in the winter. Fantastic Italian warmth with a very alpine feel.

This hotel does have hidden quality. If you stay first time in front of the hotel, you wouldn't imagine a perfect little hotel. The wellness is absolutely great and modern. The rooms are softly renovated, clean and very cosy. The staff is very friendly, helpfull and effectiv (mostly locals). Food is of a very good quality. The dining room is old fashioned but fits to a kind of historic hotel. The one and only elevator is often busy. Parking in front of the hotel is free. We will be definitely back to that very sympatic hotel.

We only stayed one night a last minute decision when our plans changed but we wish we could of stayed longer. The couple that run the hotel were just wonderful and so friendly. The room was spacious, comfortable and great value. The room charge included a 3 course dinner and full breakfast. The only negative was the chef (needs to be changed). Scenic outlook from hotel and close to ski slopes. We stayed the next 3 nights at Marmalade and while the skiing was good not worth the longer drive so stay here if you get the chance.

Room Tip: We had a room with a balcony that overlooked the mountains simply wonderful
