Our party of three ate here on a Thursday night. Our dining experience started with a greeting from the host and immediate seating. Our waiter, whose name was Lively, offered a great explanation of their featured wine selections and their drink of the month, martinis. I settled for a Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse beer on tap, while another in the group had a martini. The beer was a real treat. We ordered three different entrées: blackened Ahi Tuna, tenderloin and tenderloin tips. I had the tuna, seared, rare in the middle and it came with vegetables and a lemon flavored risotto that was awesome. Everyone cleaned their plates. We were too full for dessert.

The restaurant has great ambience. It was quiet enough that we were able to carry on a conversation. I thing the restaurant is great for a group of friends or it would be appropriate for a romantic dinner. My personal impression is the experience would be wasted on young children.

Our first visit and very happy with the selection of food and beverages. Great service also. I had the special 4 oz. filet with lobster tail, garlic mashed potatoes which were pleasantly understated and not overwhelming, and the vegetables cooked to perfection, not too soggy. My husband had the prime rib, again cooked as ordered and we shared dessert, a pumpkin creme brulee. He also had an 18 yr. Glenfidditch. Looking forward to our next visit as there was so much more on the menu to try!

We had a small wedding supper for under 50 people in the mezzanine at Pogreba Restaurant in November. The staff, especially Kaley, was exceptional. They interacted with our guests and appeared to be enjoying themselves. The food was absolutely delicious! Our chosen dinner options were prime rib, shrimp, and ravioli with chicken. Many of our guests said it was the best prime rib they ever had. Guest were still talking about the white chocolate raspberry dessert weeks later. The mezzanine gave us just the small, intimate feeling we wanted for our special day. Also, the cost came in at the very low end of our budget.

My husband had the scallops which were wonderful and my salmon wellington was delicious. They are flexible and accommodating and our waiter was excellent. Nice atmosphere and food preparation.

We discovered the Pogreba during an overnight stay as we were traveling through La Crosse, and then returned for a couple's weekend. The food on both occasions was excellent and we were impressed with the menu and reasonable prices. The Pogreba has limited evening hours only, but the menu is impressive and the service good (but not exceptional). The restaurant has a small bar and an average wine selection. The ambience is quiet and quaint, since the restaurant is in a converted church sanctuary.
