There are fine dining places in Wisconsin Dells that you will enjoy. The House of Embers is one of them. Great food, great staff, and a beautiful lounge. Quiet and elegant, you will enjoy the atmosphere and the food. Bob Viking, Portage

This is the type of restaurant that cares about presentation (i.e. edible flowers). It's not edgy, but good for the area. We ate outside on the deck under the lights as it was somewhat romantic (there's a nearby street and parking lot, but still a pleasant atmosphere). No processed food, more specifically real/homemade salad dressings, mashed potatoes, cheese cakes, etc. The fresh/hot rolls were to die for! Salad was nice, salad dressing awesome, steak was tender, crab somewhat dry. When I complained about the crab they brought me more (was still dry, but they were trying). Cheesecake was delicious. A bit pricey, but frankly we had eaten at so many horrible restaurants by this point I was more than happy to pay whatever for some decent food. The salads and burgers were a good price. Definitely would return in the future.

We have frequently enjoyed this restaurant during the happy hour specials, wine pairings, and popular Friday fish fry, but I never tried the ribs before. Now it is the only thing I will ever have from now on... the secret is in the sauce. The side of Hurricane Sauce (what I believe is vinegar based with honey, whole grain mustard, peppers and onions) is a must! This is not your typical Texas or Kansas City BBQ... more like the Carolina BBQ flavor, which is unique to the area. Thursday is the Rib Night Special, but you can get them anytime. The service is great too... and they have outdoor seating which is nice. Don't forget the extra sauce!

Service was good. The food was above average but portions were s m a l l. Atmosphere was interesting. Very eclectic with a lot of things that were the same but didn't match. There was an outdoor area that many people were in and that included live music. One musician that was fair.

The old, old carpet should have steered us away. Dated in a bad way. Food was overpriced and average. Service was so so.

Thank you for your opinion.
The restaurant was founded in 1959 and there are lots of original antique lamps, oak tables other pieces of our 58 year history of serving great food and service. The carpet has been recently replaced and we steam clean it every 2 weeks due to the high foot traffic. The room that you sat in has a beautiful tile floor with lots of windows and sunroofs. The server stated that you ate all of your walleye pike with maple pecan butter. The 12 oz USDA Choice Ribeye Steak with Maitre'de butter and 8 oz NY Strip Steak with Bourbon Bacon sauce with were both demolished by your fellow family members. When the server checked on your table everyone was smiles and very happy. This was reflected in your 15% tip. We will continue to serve great food with superb service so we can extend our family history of serving our guests in the Wisconsin Dells.
