We lived near Green Bay for many years and visited Joe Rouer's often. Moved away 5yrs ago and... read more
It seems like yesterday it was 1980 and a bunch of us would swing in off Highway 57 and up to Joe Rouer's after a weekend trip to the Door County Dunes. Grandma Helen was there to show a bunch of snotty Green Bay kids how to do a boilermaker. Then her and Grandpa Joe would serve up a burger as big as your head! Now 37 years later, the family tradition survives. The menu is limited but why waste your time with too much selection when you do burgers, booyah and chili as well as Rouer's does. The place is always busy so leave your impatience back on the highway. They should put a picture of this place's burger on the state flag. I only gave Rouer's 4/5 so I can keep coming back to say I'm sorry.
Best burger you can find in the area. For sure. A small-town experience with cold beer and simple food at its best. You won't regret making the stop.
Looks fairly new. Limited menu of hamburgers and soups, but must be very successful. Very busy for a Tuesday afternoon in the middle of nowhere. Try it!
Burgers are tasty, but full of grease. Pint of Lieny's - $4. Really? That's high for this area!! On the plus side, place is clean and family friendly.
One mile off of Rt 57 on County Road X in the middle of dairy farm land, you will find Joe Rouer's. Great local neighborhood place for Wisconsin burgers and beer at either the bar, tables or the game room. Put it on your list. The burgers are wraped in deli paper and piled on a single plate. No tomato or lettuce so, don't even ask. Pickles and onion are an option. You will be treated to one of the tastiest burgers you have ever had.
It's been a while since I've been there, but in my opinion they serve one of the best hamburgers in the area.I can remember Helen, one of the owner's,had a shot of booze in every corner of the bar to keep her spirits high ,also made for some.good.conversation while we were eating.A must do thing, especially if you're a from out of town business traveler.Maybe I can relate to Helen's experience bcause of my previous bartending job many moons ago!
