There are two dishes that I love: the shrimp and grits, and the blackened catfish. Both of these (among others) can be made GF, and both are very good. Food is always tasty, service was good, and I loved the option of adding andouille sausage to the shrimp and grits. I keep hoping they will make the corn bread GF too, but that hasn't happened...yet...

We have been to Maxie's a few times, and every time we ask ourselves why we went back. It's not that the food isn't good or that the service is bad. We just leave feeling like the experience was "meh." Tasty cornbread, average entrees, and prices that seem way too high for the food/type of food. Again, it's worth trying (maybe you'll love it!!) but I felt that after the last visit, we personally won't be going back.

We were very sorry to read you have not been impressed with your visits to Maxie's, or found value in the quality and quantity of your meals. We often say that "good" is the enemy of "great," and we work hard to make sure all our guests have excellent experiences, so it was disappointing to see we consistently missed the mark. Please contact us at max@maxies.com, so that we may further address your experience with the hope you would come back to Maxie's.

Loved it! Oyster happy hour with buck-a-shuck? Oh yeah. And a happy hour priced draft beer? Oh yeah. And no where else except down South can I get shrimp 'n grits like that. Outstanding server. Cool laid back vibe. Solid!

I had high hopes for Maxie's. The menu looked outstanding. We made reservations and went early. When we arrived, we were seated in their upstairs dining room. Our waiter was nice and friendly.

They have a big beverage menu, and a decent tap beer selection. We started with the peel and eat shrimp, so everyone in our group was able to have several.

The corn bread was ok, and our waiter brought out a second basket. My wife asked for extra butter, which came out with the second basket.

There were seven of us. When our entrees came out, 3 got theirs, 3 more came at least 5 mins later, and the final came a few mins after that.

My wife's gumbo was a little on the bland and skimpy side. My jambalaya came out dry on the outside, like it was sitting under a heat lamp. The inside shrimp and sausage slices were moist, while those on the outside were dry.

The portions were huge; I could only eat half of my meal.

The side order of the grits was awesome.

They have a parking lot across the street with lots of spots.

Server was fantastic and knew the menu and how things were prepared exceptionally well. Something that is lost today. Oysters were fresh and delicious. All entree items were awesome as well. Large portions too!
