Met several friends for dinner last night. They serve homemade cornbread with orange flavored butter. Yum. Servings are very substantial. Many of us went home with leftovers. Great jambalaya and several awesome desserts too.

I haven't eaten here in several years but will definitely return soon. My friends and I really enjoyed our meal and were glad we got in early. Seems to fill up rather quickly so it's best to arrive early. The collard greens were delicious. The service was rather quick considering how busy the restaurant was. The location is a little out of the way but it's worth the trouble.

Large portions. I got the shrimp and grits. It was delicious and I'd go again for a special occasion. Kind of pricey so I would only go for a special occasion but I would definitely go again. No questions. Oh yea waitstaff was great too!

WOW! What a delightful and splendid place to dine with family, friends, and or anyone else... We took friends from out of the area here for a treat and they absolutely loved it as much as we do! Promised that we would return with them and their family members when the visit again in the near future! Though the area can be suspect to any who don't know and appreciate the diversity of the various Milwaukee neighborhoods,"the proof is in the pudding," as one might say!

The dining is great, the service is great, food wonderfully delicious and a very helpful and happy to serve staff awaits you! Lots of fantastic entres to suit everyone's taste.EVERYTHING is EXCEPTIONALLY EXCELLENT here! Nice size portions with leftovers galore and wonderful flavors galore!

The ambiance is simply out of this world and definitely worth a visit and a return to boot! If there is a wait, e patient and WAIT IT OUT!

We weren't sure what to expect when we pulled up to a little restaurant in a neighborhood that seemed a bit off the beaten path. But with the urging of a local, we proceeded in to Maxie's. So glad we did! The southern comfort food totally hit the spot after a long day of travel. Our party got the shrimp and grits, the brisket, the blackened grilled chicken po'boy, and LOTS of mac and cheese. TO DIE FOR. All of it was absolutely delicious, the portions were such that everyone had leftovers, and the prices were great.

Did I mention mac and cheese??? SO YUMMY!

We'll definitely be back next time we're in town!
