You can rely on consistently good food at Culver's. I had the two-piece fish dinner which is one of my favorites. The glutenfree options are very good, too, except the GF bun is extra $$$, which I wonder if that is fair? The food is always good and the service is nice and friendly.

How can you go wrong with a butter burger and an old fashion Malt. Always some new flavor to try also. Not cheap but worth it.

We knew it was a chain however was our first experience. Step above McDonalds and the treats of great flavors of custard/ice cream every day is good addition. Counter service and they bring it to you and bus your table. Really good for fast food.

With the demise of many old-time fast-food drive-in restaurants such as Dog 'n Suds and A&W, it's a real joy to see the emergence of Culver's. Founded in 1984 in Sauk City, Wisconsin, it isn't a drive-in restaurant chain. It's even better. It serves old-time comfort food with a Wisconsin twist in a clean, comfortable, sit-down environment. Like the Culver's location at 5801 21st Street in Racine, Wisconsin, which we discovered en route to a baseball game in Milwaukee. Have you ever had a butterburger? It isn't an ordinary hamburger. It's a special blend of three cuts of beef--sirloin, chuck and plate, all prized cuts. Fresh, never frozen, with no fillers, well marbled, pressed and seared to lock in the juices and placed on a lightly buttered and toasted bun. It's a different and delicious taste. So are Culver's other unique offerings--crinkle cut fries, Wisconsin deep fried cheese curds, Wisconsin Swiss melt, sourdough melt, its own brand of root beer and the best tasting frozen custard you've ever had, chocolate or caramel or fruit or fudge or peanut butter or mint or marshmallow or vanilla or cheesecake. Personally, I love Culver's North Atlantic cod sandwich with tartar sauce and butterfly jumbo shrimp basket. Thank goodness that our Wisconsin neighbors decided to establish so many Culver's locations in Illinois.
