My brand-new husband and I were gifted a mini-honeymoon to Westwood Shores by his parents back in July. It was just the thing we needed after all the hustle and bustle of the wedding. We checked in and migrated up to our room and found a bottle of Door County wine with a note of congratulations from the staff on the kitchen counter. We stayed in the room located exactly in the middle of the V-shaped building layout, which happened to be the room directly in line with the nightly sunsets. Absolutely beautiful. It was a one bedroom suite, just about the size of my old one-bedroom apartment (600-750 sqft or so). In the room were: a king-sized bed, whirlpool tub, gas fireplace, kitchen with all the tools you could possibly need to do any cooking, LCD TVs, almost full-sized refrigerator, mini balcony for 2, and more. It had everything we needed, plus a helpful directory with locations of nearby shopping and restaurants. A neat highlight that Westwood rooms have is a room journal. People can document highlights of their stay in this notebook and it remains in the room for other visitors to read about the travelers before them. I broke down reading about a man who was on his last trip to Door County with his cancer stricken wife and the memories they shared. Truly touching and honest. Long story short: stay here and be delighted with the spaces of the resort, the places in town, and the faces of the helpful staff!

a very nice out of the way resort. if you want to stay close, bring your own food & drink, sturgeon bay is a few miles away. sonnys pizza does have great delivery service. the room was great, awesome view.the only thing we found a bit odd was the fact there were no rest room facilities in the pool area. we had to go to our third floor room. as there are no restrooms in hallways either. makes us wonder how children made it 2-3 hours by pool drinking soda not returning to thier room. will return in summer.

Thank you so much for your comment. We are happy you enjoyed your stay and the amenities that Westwood Shores has to offer. I am sorry you were not aware of our common area restrooms. We have them available on the frist floor right down the hall from the indoor pool and also on the 2nd floor right down from the front desk. We look forward to your stay during the summer.

We stayed at Westwood Shores for the fall colors. We arrived to find the leaves were yellow and orange and ready for our weekend. The only downfall was the moody hotel manager behind the desk. We stood there for a minute waiting and after she acknowledged us she was short and to the point. Not friendly. So we laughed it off and went to town for lunch. Once we checked in it was wonderful. The man behind the desk was funny and made small talk with us about football. The room was amazing! We loved it!!!! The view was one of the best yet and we had a wonderful time.

We just returned from Westwood Shores for the 2nd time this year. The first time was in April. I won a jelly bean guessing contest back then and won 2 free nights, so we returned in November for the free 2 nights. We have stayed in both a 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom suite. They were both amazing. Room accommodations are excellent, and the staff is always friendly. In April, we left a cheese knife in the dishwasher in our 1 bedroom suite. A few days later we received it in the mail. Westwood Shores had actually sent it back to us (which is awesome since i spent 17bux roughly on it during our vacation there). There is a full kitchen and the views from all of the suites are gorgeous and look onto water (Green Bay). Flat screen tvs are a plus, too! We used the indoor pool and hot tub each day (they provide towels for the pool and these are kept in the standing dresser in the bedroom so dont forget to look for them) It is a pretty convenient location with just a short drive to downtown Sturgeon Bay. It is not walking distance, but well worth the short car drive. Door County is overly 'hopping' with activities during the offseason, so that is the only downfall to both of our trips....it just so happened those were the only times we were available to take off work to go. In the area, try Grandma Tommys country store and Renards Cheese Place. Between the two places you can find any yummy treats that are local to Door County.

I love westwood shores and would highly recommend it to anyone. Although our room for the 2nd trip there was free, I would easily stay again and have no problem paying for it!

Room Tip: any room is great but waterview is well worth it!

My husband and I stayed here for our Babymoon (I am 6 1/2 months pregnant with our 2nd child) and we really enjoyed our stay here, for the most part. The one bedroom suite is exactly like a small apartment (with kitchen, whirpool bath, fireplace, etc). We only have 2 complaints about the place. The bed was horrible - I woke up with a horrible back ache and my husband didn't sleep well either. The pillows were too plush and didn't sink down enough... The 2nd thing that wasn't great was that there wasn't even a continental breakfast, just complimentary coffee and hot chocolate.

We really did enjoy the free movie rentals at the front desk and the whirlpool tub was great. View of the bay and the sunset were breath-taking. Great place - just get some new beds and breakfast and you're all set.

Congratulations on your upcoming baby. Thank you for choosing Westwood Shores for your "babymoon". I am sorry to hear of your disappointment in our mattresses. Overall, we have had very positive feedback since replacing all our mattresses and pillows earlier this year (May, 2011). Great to hear you enjoyed our other hotel amenities. Many people find our fully equiped kitchen very convenient for preparing their own meals along with our 24 hour coffee center. We hope you will be back after your baby is born. Westwood Shores is a great place for families too.
