“Great Pit Stop after Camping”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 October 2011

After camping in Yellowstone for a few days this was a good stop to do some laundry and unwind by the pool. Big clean rooms, lovely pool and large wooden chairs to sit outside and relax in. Good price for the time of year also.

I wish we'd still had little kids to enjoy the big bear out front and the playground on the premises. The owners of this motel really make guests feel welcome. They accept pets and the rooms are clean with microwaves and fridges in some of them. They also have wifi available to those who wish to use it. This is not downtown, but that was one of the blessings we enjoyed. We had a safe, quiet rest. Across the street, you will find the best breakfast ever at a reasonable price at Our Place. The waitresses were wonderful. So on the busy road to Yellowstone, we enjoyed a good night's rest at a very reasonable price and the motel owner directed us to this great local eatery.

Room Tip: Tell the owner what you want: she will work to meet your expectations.

We were pleasantly surprised to have booked this lodge, sight unseen, up the road from downtown Cody (and the Buffalo Bill museum) and at the top of the Shoshone River ravine. Great feel, rooms like new, friendly bikers, families, and llamas (really!). I don't understand any negative reviews; the owners were friendly and helpful and the rate just right. Fortune also brought us here for July 4 fireworks over the river and free barbeque. One of our favorite experiences in our cross country drive.

Room Tip: We prefer 2nd floor rooms, so no footsteps above us. Nice to sit out on deck.

We spent two nights here in a room that was larger and more comfortable than we expected it to be. It was clean and well-equipped. The owners and staff are friendly and helpful. Their rates are very competitive with competing motels in Cody.
Ask for room 217, the second floor corner room that overlooks corral and stables, and has a nice view of the mountains.

We spent 3 days in Cody and selected the Big Bear based on other reviews. So glad we did. This is a privately owned motel and the owners are very nice and friendly. They gave us tips on things to do and recommended the local diner across the road to eat breakfast. "Our Place" has great home cooking and wonderful, friendly waitresses.
The Hotel is no frills but it was extremely clean, the beds are very comfortable and it is quiet.
We got a great AAA rate of $69.00 a night and felt that was a food value.A great place to stay.

The motel is just on the outside of the small town but is still next to restaurants and because the gown is so small you can take about a 20-30 minute walk into the centre. The room was a nice size and the beds comfy, the couple who run big bear where friendly and helpful. We took a private tour of yellowstone with a guy called Frank who was superb! Such a nice man who knows so much about the park, really recommend a tour with him!! Would say go for at least 5 days we only went for 3 and it was no where near long enough!

Big Bear Motel drops their prices for off season the last week of August. We stayed in a King non smoking room for $69/night w/AAA + tax. The new wing has great views of the road to Yellowstone which gorgeous mountains. First we stayed for 3 nights on the lower floor and loved it. When we returned for 4 days because of the smoke in YStone, we requested the 2nd floor room 217 on the end for an unobstructed view from our balcony chair AND also from our bed thru our picture window.
Negatives: Gravel parking lot, micro TVs (13") unless you get the upgrade rooms,
Positives: Very clean, large rooms with microw & refrig (Rm 217), bath/shower combo, great A/C.
Only motel I saw that had a view of the mountains/canyon headed to YStone. Fill cooler w/ice for $1. Otherwise, free ice for room. Has Washer/Dryer. Friendly staff. Also, for families, they have horses in back, swimming pool, playground, etc.
If we are able to return, we will definitely stay here.
