We went with family just for some ice-cream, but were impressed with the decor and gift shop. It is quaint and quite charming!

We actually ate breakfast here by mistake, intending to meet somebody who instead had gone to the Broken Wheel Truck Stop, which we may try next time (if there is a next time). It's an odd looking place on the outside, mostly advertising itself as an ice cream store, but there is a rambling collection of rooms on the side and back where food was served. The front area was filled with large, surly-looking guys who smelled of tobacco and stopped talking the moment we came in, which felt kind of creepy, but one of the back rooms had space for all of us amidst its curious Wild West decor, heavy on the American flags and John Wayne tributes.

Our waitress seemed tired and harassed and we saw her pretty infrequently, giving us some time to explore the place before breakfast arrived, and it's an interesting hotchpotch of stuff. Unfortunately the breakfast was average to sub-par, OK eggs but wafer-thin bacon and boiling hot burnt-tasting coffee, and we didn't linger for the ice cream that somebody had recommended to us.

If you like frozen, fried food this is the place. Nothing fresh here, Service was average. Adequate for a quick bite but nothing more.

The ice ceam shop at the Plains Trading Post Restaurant is to die for. The girl working that day, Stormy, made a double decker waffle cone so large for me that the next people that came in literally gasped out loud and then laughed, that they had never seen one that big. And the ice cream was delicious!

Got to experience the finest hospitality and food to be found in WY during the eclipse. Hats off for providing a wonderful experience and making us feel welcome. I hope to come back to Douglas and enjoy the food and town again.
