Ok, perhaps there is very little crime in "the sprawling metropolis" of Mountain View, Wyoming, but I refuse to sleep someplace where I can't lock the door!
My wife and I were invited to visit Mountain View, Wyoming for a job interview, and were placed by the interviewing company at the Country Cabins Inn to spend the night. When we arrived, we went to the check-in desk, located in the same building as the restaurant. We waited for the check-in clerk to show up at the desk, and after a time we checked with the restaurant staff. We were told to simply go to our cabin since it was unlocked and the key inside.
We moved our bags inside after finding our cabin, to find that we were not only unable to lock the door, but it wouldn't even close. Going back to the restaurant, we asked to speak with someone connected with the cabins. After waiting a short time, we were told to just move to some other cabin...the cabin number was provided to us. This cabin was clean, and comfortably furnished. There were two queen beds, a dresser, no closet but there was a hanging bar for clothes (only two hangers provided), a separate bathroom with tub and shower, and a small coffee area with table and chairs. The cabin was okay, yet comfortable.
I wondered how warm the floor would be in the winter, since there was only a through-the-wall air conditioner/heater, and the cabin was on a concrete slab. Oh, during our stay the air conditioner would not work too well.
At no time did we ever see anyone connected with the cabins, so if there was a problem in the middle of the night, we'd be out of luck since the cabin's telephone did not work. This town is in the middle of nowhere, so our cellphone did not even have service. Since our cabin's telephone did not work, we'd have some serious problems if there was a fire or medical issue during the night.
I can't comment on the cabin's staff, since we never saw anyone, but all this being said, the restaurant folks were helpful when I asked for ice...
Since there is absolutely no other hotel or motel in Mountain View, Wyoming, one really has no other choice for lodging, except to drive over to Evanston (about 45 minutes away).
