We've come back several times for the delicious Acai bowls. Crunchy granola, all-fresh ingredients make this a great breakfast, lunch or snack!

Friendly service and generous portions. We look forward to our next visit!

I have to say that I cannot comment on the food at the "Up Country Bakery & Cafe" but what I saw looked very good.

We just went in for a morning coffee and cake which has to be recommended. The staff are friendly and it looks like a place where the locals visit to pick up lunches to take to the nearby beach.

Basically a nice place to come and relax over a nice cup of Kona coffee.

We came for the gluten free scones, and ended up with a couple of veggie burritos on GF wraps, smothered in the green sauce. So good! And big enough to share or have as leftovers. We ate here at least 5 times in the month we stayed in Captain Cook. I understand they are working on a GF banana bread. There are many vegan treats as well. GF bagel sandwiches, too. The scones varied in size from day to day, but generally were large. Priced $3.75.

We read the reviews so made the trek with great antisipation. We are ok with funky and crunchy if the food is to die for but this was no better than Safeway. Yes, its health food, they are newage and think they make great food but sadly they are just average. Not worth driving out of your way. We ordered a scone and banana bread both were void of the moist, rich flavors we were expecting. Dissapointed.

I used to love this cafe, until they fired my two favourite staff/baristas - kat and mario i think - and when i visited kona again recently, the food was still good, but the coffee was so average (it used to be AMAZING, even my mom who never ever drinks coffee got hooked after one sip) and the girl behind the counter was not very helpful and seemed totally spaced out.

Aloha,
Mahalo for taking a moment to share your thoughts and frustrations regarding your recent visit to our cafe.
There is a saying that people come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. Well, that's what we experience here with employees at Up Country as well. We absolutely love our ohana and do our best to balance business and the ohana-employee relationship. Life is constantly changing and seasons change for not only the cafe but for our employees as well.
When we started our business I worked the front of the house 7 days a week, 12 hour shifts. Because of the love and passion I have, balancing exceptional customer service, delicious coffee and drinks and getting items out in a timely fashion, is a HUGE part of the foundation of our cafe. When these qualities starts to falter we do our best to make things pono (right....balanced). Unfortunately, it's unrealistic for us to expect that all our baristas are going to be 100%, 100% of the time. If you don't mind, I'd like to know who your barista was when you visited. If you can please email me at UpCountryBakeryCafe@gmail.com that would be great.
Mahalo again for visiting us.....even if it was just for a season.
Aloha,
Antoinette & The Up Country Bakery & Cafe
