If you are driving from Kona to South Pointe, or Volcano National Park or any point west, plan for this to be one of your meal stops. It is very small, but the bakery, food and drinks are unique and excellent! They had a great mix of menu items including the most amazing gluten free (which truly don't look like it) and organic selections. They had banana bread french toast, bagel sandwiches with eggs, mozzarella & Canadian bacon, great cinnamon rolls, GF vegan pancakes and crepes and a number of other items. We were there for breakfast and bakery items, but I also saw they had an extensive lunch menu including Mexican food.

In addition to breakfast, we picked up some "snacks" for our travel that day. They had a good selection of cookies like chocolate chip, macadamia nut as well as whoopie pies, scones, and turnovers. I have never seen such a good gluten free chocolate chip cookie. (I have posted pics because you won't believe it.) They had all types of fresh squeezed juices as well as Kona coffees, ice cream and shakes. This can be summed up by very healthy well made options utilizing the best tastes of Hawaii.

This was our favourtie breakfast spot on The Big Island. It was a little far from our hotel but we still managed to eat there every morning.
If you have any food allergies you will think you've died and gone to heaven once you step foot into this restaurant. The gluten free pancakes are to die for! My husband who doesn't have a food allergies was also really impressed with the food.
The atmosphere is very welcoming and the staff are really helpful.
Highly recommend!

We've enjoyed the gluten-free bagel sandwiches here THREE times in the past three days. So good! We've had the chicken salad, tuna salad and tuna melt. Today I had the ham sandwich with garlic cream cheese. Our sandwiches arrive loaded with organic ingredients: tomatoes, lettuces, sprouts and more. And the prices were great too! Yum.

We've come back several times for the delicious Acai bowls. Crunchy granola, all-fresh ingredients make this a great breakfast, lunch or snack!

Friendly service and generous portions. We look forward to our next visit!

I have to say that I cannot comment on the food at the "Up Country Bakery & Cafe" but what I saw looked very good.

We just went in for a morning coffee and cake which has to be recommended. The staff are friendly and it looks like a place where the locals visit to pick up lunches to take to the nearby beach.

Basically a nice place to come and relax over a nice cup of Kona coffee.
