There are actually 2 buildings with rooms, so I was a bit confused looking for my room in one building, when it was actually in the other. Luckily Alan, the manager, noticed me looking around and directed me to the correct room. We stayed 4 nights in Room 1, which was recently remodeled and clean and cozy. There is an easy self check-in process. The attached bathroom has a tiled floor and shower head but it's open to the entire bathroom, so some overspray ends up covering most of the floor. It creates a nice open feeling, but it would be great if the owner could provide a squeegee to clean up the floor after your shower so you don't track water into the bedroom. The bedroom has a queen size bed, ceiling fan with light, 2 stools, a narrow table, a trunk at the end of the bed with storage and padded seating and 2 night stands and lamps. There is a small air conditioner mounted into the wall. The owner asks that the A/C be turned on only when you are in the room and that was fine with us. The room cools off in about 15-20 minutes. There was also a mini-fridge in our room which was very convenient and kept our items nice and cold. There is a small closet area above the fridge with hangers on a rod and a shelf. The room came with its own coffee maker, hair dryer and iron. Soap and shampoo were not provided. Our room was attached to the shared kitchen, as is Room number 2. Alan stocks the kitchen with breakfast items each evening. There was always fresh fruit and eggs, along with bacon, bread, juice, coffee packets, cereal and other assorted items. The cabinets contain plates and bowls, glasses, flatware, cooking pans, etc. Unfortunately the stove in the kitchen is not working, so you need to use another smaller open-air kitchen in the other building if you want to cook bacon and eggs for breakfast. Everyone pitches in for cleanup duty in the kitchen. Dish soap, towels, etc. are provided. Light housekeeping is performed by the manager. Our room came with 4 bath towels and we re-used them so did not have them washed during our stay. Alan is amazingly helpful and friendly. The laundry that Alan uses to wash the linens is available for guest use, just let him know and coordinate an appropriate time. There is free WiFi onsite, but the reception was poor in our room. Make sure to ask for the password. There are covered tables and chairs setup outside in the yard for relaxing or eating breakfast. We also went to sit there to use the WiFi. Just a block to the end of the road is the public beach entrance and you get great views of Hilo Bay from there! The location is close to the airport, downtown Hilo, parks and shopping. The price and amenities of this property are great, and we would definitely stay there again.

The place is so quiet and located near the ocean in a pieceful neighborhood. The room was clean and recently remodeled. The owner is an amazing person, very friendly and willing to help. There is a kitchen as well and it's open for guests to use. Also there is no time frame for breakfast and u can enjoy fresh eggs and fruits any time. I and my friend are so in love with this little paradise and we surely will stay there again once we are going to the BI. It's probably the best place I've stayed in Hawaii (I've been to all four major islands!)

Room Tip: We stayed in room number 3 and it was new, clean and convenient

Easy self check in.

Rooms a little dated but I think they will be renovated, some of the units were being done while we were there.

Breakfast supplies in communal kitchen were good. Friendly owner who checked up daily if there were any issues

Easy to find, clean, comfortable, nearby secluded beach so you could hear waves meeting the shore as you drifted off to sleep, easy living in Hilo! Would definitely stay again if I am ever in Hilo again.

We stayed here for 5 days during our time on Big Island. A small and very empty beach is direct 1 minute down the street. The owner is very kind. At the checkout he has shown us the new rooms which are currently being renovated and already now looking great!
