We went to Aaron's cottage for our night in Hilo and we didn't regret it. It was a nice room and bathroom with everything we needed. A kitchen was in our disposal. The owner, Aaron welcome us when we arrived and he was really friendly and helpfull.
The cottage is close to the city center and it's really quiet.

Aaron's Cottage was our base while we explored Volcanoes National Park for a couple days. Our host warmly greeted us and gave us information about the local area while showing us our room. Our room was elegantly decorated and very comfortable. Even though it faces the road, it's a quiet area with a nice yard and parking space. We were only a few minutes from several restaurants and less than an hour's drive from Volcanoes National Park.
Our room's rear door led to the community kitchen where we were told to help ourselves to the fruit and feel free to use the cooking facilities. Made it feel like home!
We would definitely stay at Aaron's Cottage again!

Room Tip: We were happy in our room which was between two others.

We stayed at Aaron's Cottage in March 2017 for 3 nights. We found the accomodation to be very comfortable with a modern bathroom (although without a shower screen) with a comfy bedroom and shared kitchen facilities. Alan provided fresh fruit, eggs, milk and bread which made for a heathy and tasty breakfast. Alan was very helpful with ideas for locations to visit and places to eat in the Hilo area. Kens was a standout! You need a car for travel around Hilo and Aaron's Cottage has heaps of parking space. Free wifi was also appreciated. The beach is at the end of the street although is very rocky. Aaron's is well worth a visit.

Aaron's Cottage is the best accommodation in Hilo! About 5-10mins drive from the centre of town, this place is quiet and extremely comfortable. The room was recently refurbished with a communal kitchen with all mod cons. Allan the caretaker was friendly and keen to make our stay great - offering advice on places to eat and swimming beaches for kids.
We were really impressed with this place and for the price, its a bargain (we paid almost 3 times the amount in Kona and got nowhere near this good accommodation)!
We would highly recommend this place to just about everyone :)
Mahalo Allan!

I was relieved when we found out we were staying in the renovated rooms which did not disappoint. Huge, clean, and comfortable - very nicely done. The shower without walls does make for slippery floors (bathroom and bedroom) - but not a deal breaker. Breakfast was good, and the friendly owner gave us a great recommendation for dinner which was Ken's Pancake House down the street (tasty, convenient, economical). We also loved the 'secret beach' which was a minute down the street with great views of the volcano. The owner Alan also gave us directions to another little public beach where my husband was able to swim with a sea turtle (so cool!). Great value, location, and overall experience!
