Owner description: Eka Canoe Adventures is the most unique way to experience Hawaiian waters along the Kona Coastline. Onboard a recreated historically accurate Hawaiian double-hulled sailing canoe, your experienced crew shares generations of knowledge in an old Hawaiian way, “story telling”. Guests are invited to paddle, sail or just kick back and enjoy their journey through History.

I went out with Eko Canoe thinking we had a decent chance of seeing a manta ray. Instead, we saw nothing but manta rays almost the entire time we were out. Eko Canoe's crew was super friendly, knowledgeable, and fun. There's a decent amount of competition for these trips, but I strongly recommend Eko Canoe -- what a blast!

This was our first time snorkeling with manta rays and it's one of the most awe-inspiring things I've ever done. These graceful creatures are amazing! Everyone going to Hawaii should experience this. The crew of Eka Canoe was very knowledgable and told us about the mantas, what to expect, and how to make sure we don't accidentally harm the mantas. The sailing canoe that we ride to the snorkel spot is small so you aren't going out with a large group of people like some of the other tours. There were six tourists on our boat so it's a nice sized group and you're able to ask questions and the tour feels very intimate. I would definitely do this again!

Absolutely the highlight of our recent trip to Kona, Hawai'i! We stayed at the Sheraton Kona Resort because of the close availability of this guided encounter. Captain David and both Nicks were knowledgeable, patient and kind, and the native-style outrigger canoe made the experience unique and personal. All necessary equipment was provided, including wetsuit jackets and snorkel gear. They even had prescription-magnified scuba masks to choose from, which was a great help since I wear glasses. We had an amazing experience, three manta rays in graceful, slow-motion beautiful Blue Angel ballet. Having the mantas brush up against me 8 times during the swim was a mystical experience! Memorable and highly recommended!

We had a host of Manta Rays (5) hanging with us and no matter if someone told us we would see that we would not have believed it. It was a beautiful site and our guides were great - Danielle and David.

This exceeded our expectations! Meeting place was easy to find at the back docking area near the Sheraton Hotel. The Hawaiian style Eka Canoe was a fun way to go out with a small group instead of 50 people on one of the larger boats. It's a short boat ride out, no longer than 10 minutes. Dave and Danielle were excellent guides who managed to get us to the best spots for viewing these beautiful creatures. They were both super friendly and knowledgable. We saw lots of mantas come up to about 5" underneath us multiple times. I would do this again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend!!!
My only suggestion would be to bring your own wet suit if you're like me and have very little tolerance to cold. They provide a top, but not a full suit and I did get pretty cold.
