We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Treehouse. It was peaceful and tranquil, up among the trees and ferns. The decor was charming, with touches of whimsy. It made for a perfect home base to explore nearby Volcano National Park, Volcano Winery, Akatsuka Orchid Gardens and Hilo. The kitchen is well equipped and Leslie's made sure there's plenty to do on rainy nights (can anyone say Yahtzee?). I'll always remember our time here, a unique experience not to be missed.
The Maile Treehouse is a wonderful place to stay. The host puts so much effort in the smallest little details, making it truly seem like your own little secluded oasis. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you would need to cook a delicious meal. The bed and pillows are very comfortable, with plenty of warm comfy blankets, there is even a change of sheets and extra blankets if you need. There is music to listen to, books to read and several board games to entertain you if you're feeling like a night in. There is nothing that you could need that Leslie didn't think about...even a laundry basket, which doesn't seem like much but it was super convenient to be able to put all our dirty clothes into at the end of a long day.
With the Maile Treehouse being my first Airbnb experience, I cannot imagine another place living up to the high expectations set by Leslie. Mahalo!
This home in the middle of the rain forest was a great stay and very close to the volcano national park entrance. Saw lots of birds endemic to the area and you could see the glow of the volcano from the lane on a misty night-that's how close you are to the park. Felt like home away from home.
We were looking for a unique place to stay while visiting Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The Maile Treehouse was the PERFECT place to stay in Volcano Village! The first indication our stay would be special was the greeting my wife spotted in the garden, “Aloha J&A.” More surprises presented themselves as we entered the tree house and settled in for our stay. Leslie and Michael have added dozens of unique touches and items that surprise, entertain and make you feel at home here. The kitchen is completely furnished for cooking, the Jacuzzi was totally relaxing, all the linens and towels have a wonderful scent, the local directory of things to do is complete (along with spot-on restaurant recommendations) and there are many books, games, TV, stereo, guitar, etc. to keep you entertained. We told Leslie we were visiting Hawaii to celebrate an anniversary, but we didn’t expect to find a bottle of champagne along with two crystal stems. When cooler weather set in, the fireplace did a wonderful job of keeping us toasty warm. Waking up to all the beautiful trees and ferns surrounding the house was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning again someday.
We chose this property for its proximity to the Volcanoes National Park which we wanted to visit more than once on our stay on the Big Island. Maile Treehouse is really like a treehouse! Green foliage from all windows! We enjoyed this peaceful retreat in this most welcoming home. The owner, Leslie, is very responsive to questions and provides a lot of detail to the good functioning of her home and the great attractions and restaurants in the area. The decor is charming and the amenities great. We also appreciated the kitchen staples like creamer and coffee, spices and condiments that were available.
We had some cooler nights and mornings, so we really appreciated the warm and comfy bed linens!
My wife and I booked the Maile Treehouse for our honeymoon and could not have been happier with it. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we felt welcomed and taken care of by our (invisible) hosts, Leslie and Mike.
The kitchen is fully-stocked equipment-wise - much more so than any other vacation rental we've ever seen. We cooked over half of our meals here, which, since we love cooking together, was phenomenal! There are a few (great) places to eat in Volcano, but if you're looking to cozy up and cook a dinner at home, this is a perfect place to do so if desired.
The flow and design of the house is something out of an interior design magazine - a double-sided fireplace for those "Hawaiian cold" nights, a master bedroom with shower and jacuzzi flowing seamlessly to the bed area, windows on every wall completely enclosed by native greenery... after you leave this place, you will miss it!
Overall, we could not recommend the Maile Treehouse enough. We will certainly return!
We are so grateful we found such a haven to stay for 3 nights on the Big Island. The house was immaculate and had many charming touches which showed pride in ownership. It rained the majority of our stay but that did not deter our adventures. The home was cozy and inviting upon our return each day. Kitchen set up was great for cooking our own meals. Highly recommended!
