There are so many things you could choose to do at the Waikoloa Beach Resort. There are lots of dining options, different activities to try, and various types of entertainment to enjoy. My wife enjoyed the shopping centers here the most. It was a great place to shop for aloha shirts, swimsuits, gifts, chocolates, and local foods to take home

I trust Trip Advisor may well delete this review. Anyway, this a unique oasis carved out the rocky volcanic "soil" about 20 isles north of Kona on Highway 19. Its had major shopping complexs almost adjacent to one another with excellent dining and some upscale shopping (e.g., Tiffany's). It has several golf courses, too.

Appartement spacious and clean. Nice gym room and a good pool. Two supermarkets very close to the resort. Perfect location near beaches. Concierge service very reactive and helpful.
Definitely a place to stay on big island

I suppose if quiet sunrises, and beautiful sunsets and beaches aren't your thing, Waikoloa, or Hawaii for that matter is lost on you. With that said, the Waikoloa area is growing, but even in it's growth, an early morning run or walk is met by quiet and few walkers, golfers and an electric cart driven by maintenance staff- and in what seems to be too much already, you barely notice or care. The area in and around the village is beautifully manicured, green and relaxing. There are two shopping areas close by (Kings and Queens) not including the enormous Hilton Waikoloa, which has several restaurants and man-made beaches with an ocean fed swimming lagoon. The Hilton can get a bit cramped, but if you opt for something more relaxing, south of the Marriott hotel and just past the Lava Lava Beach club, you'll find a lonely beach to enjoy- and you'll undoubtedly stroll past a half dozen or more sea turtles (Honu) resting along the waterline. But don't bother them or touch! Just admire.
Waikoloa offers a litany of activities; sailing, paddle boarding, snorkeling, diving, golf, tours- air land and sea, restaurants, gifts and a huge market for just about anything you'll ever need. We love it there - you might too. We rarely travel down to Kona for anything and opt for Waimea town- We'll go to the Kona Inn for lunch or dinner for the nostalgia of having spent years in the islands, and the food (and Mai Tais) is very good, but other than that- we stay north.
