This is a very popular luau right at the entrance of the Wailua river. Take the boat ride first up the river to the Fern Grotto first. Before the luau take the tram tour around the gardens to see and learn about the local fruits and vegetables grown here.

I have a review of this place with photos attached. It was fun and the grounds are beautiful. They inform you of the island ways and the show was great.

They have you check in at 4:45pm but you don't actually eat until 6:30pm. They do give you a quick tram ride through the gardens. Then you get to wonder around on your own through the gardens and there are some beautiful flowers and foliage. They do offer you water only during this wait time. We made the mistake of going inside and reaching for a cup of punch. Wow, were we reprimanded by a lady who was a server there. Sorry, didn't know. Anyway, At 6:00 they do the Imu ceremony but with 500 other people there good luck getting close to see it. During this time you need to find a place to sit at one of the table or you will be searching while everyone else is eating. At 6:15pm you can now get some punch or pre made Ma Tai's but if you want anything else like a soda there is only 1 small area and waiting in that line is just not worth it. There are 4 lines to go through the buffet so the wait isn't too long if you are at one of the first tables. The pork was very dry and the rest of the food was just okay. I heard someone say that the macaroni salad looked like it came from Costco. I was expecting the food to just be amazing, but it wasn't. So dinner is over by 7:00-7:15pm and they do a little entertaining on the stage but it was all so forced and routine. We heard the same jokes that we had heard on the Smith's Fern Grotto tour the day before. Really nothing authentic about it. Then you have to wait another 45+ minutes before the Aloha show, which was in a small amphitheater about a 3-5 minute walk away where you had to go early if you wanted to find a good seat. Needless to say waiting until the show was over to fight the traffic with the other 500 people leaving at the same time did not appeal to us so we left early. If you are not sure you want to try a Luau then you probably don't want to go to this one. We have been to a much smaller Luau on the beach in the past and it was more enjoyable with a lot less waiting around time.

Food was delicious. Salad, fish, teriyaki chicken, pork, beef, dessert.... a variety setup at the buffet. Servers constantly visited your table to remove plates or refill water and coffee.
