We took the advice to leave out of the North Shore and we went with Na Pali Seabreeze and wow were we happy we did. They ran a great operation and had great communication. Definitely do the morning tour, the afternoon gets really rough and canceled a lot.

We had an amazing trip up the coast, and Captain Chris was very good. Mike was also very helpful and knowledgeable, not to mention providing amazing homegrown pineapple and apple bananas for lunch.

They spent a great deal of time (we were even passed by boats that left after us) explaining the coast, entering a sea cave, pointing out wild goats, etc. The views were amazing. We stopped for lunch and snorkeling in a very calm spot. The snorkeling was decent, but not the best. Lunch was good sandwiches, chips, amazing fruit (mentioned above), and drinks. Snorkel gear was good.

The trip back was rocking, definitely take dramanine if you have any chance of getting sea sick. Be prepared to get wet if you sit on the ends. We saw a pod of spinner dolphins and they stopped for a while for us to see the show they put on. All in all, an amazing trip and well worth it, maybe the highlight of the vacation. Again, be prepared for rough waters on the smaller boat, but that made it more fun in my view.

Also, in my opinion, pay no attention to the few previous negative feedbacks. We were very safe the whole time, they canceled the afternoon tour even though they could have gone (and it meant less money for them), and what they said about being safe at Queens Pond made perfect sense to us. Didn't come close to scaring us, just pointing out to be careful in rough waters like they are having. Guess you have to be careful who you say what to!

All in all, excellent trip and highly recommended. Thanks Chris, Mike, Bob, and Janet!

In researching boat tours of the Na Pali Coast, leaving the North Shore seemed to have the big advantage of being able to spend more time on the Coast and less time traveling to the coast. Most of the bigger tour boat companies leave from the South Shore, but Na Pali Sea Breeze leaves form the North Shore.

The other advantage of the Na Pali Sea Breeze is that it is a smaller boat. This gives you a more personal experience, but also has the big advantage of being bale to go places the bigger boats cannot: such as inside caves with waterfalls. The Na Pali Sea Breeze is a small operation, but they are very organized and prepared to handle all that you need for the tour. Dry storage, snorkel gear, shower, food, etc.

Captain Bob runs the show, though he is not always the person that take you out on the tour nowadays. For us, he handled all things before we left, but left the tour itself in very capable hands. Both the captain (Ryan) and first mate (Mike) were very friendly and super nice.

You park at the Anini (plant) Nursery near the highway, and get shuttled down to the boat on Anini Beach about a mile away. The boat goes along the North Shore, then the main part of the tour starts with lots of caves and waterfalls. It was fairly overcast and hazy for your trip going out, and intermittent rain, but it was still a nice experience.

At the further point along the Na Pali Coast, there is snorkeling spot where we stopped. We had 1.5 hours to do some snorkeling and eating lunch (divide up the time as you please). Lunch was simple sandwiches, chips, fruits and drinks, but all of it of fairly decent quality. The weather was much improved on the further part of the Coast which helped a lot.

The ride back was mostly a straight shot back, so at faster speeds and further from the coast which offered a different view than on the way up. Overall, even despite the weather challenges, it was well worthwhile. With better weather I could see this being a truly incredible experience.

Last note: it took us three tries to get on a tour here due to the rough seas that were happening at the time. They (Captina Bob and Janet) did a very good job of keeping us informed of the weather conditions and cancellations, as well as being helpful for rescheduling.

I went on the Sea Breeze today with my family. The only thing the crew could have done better was make it not rain. It rained almost our entire trip and we still managed to have a really nice time. The coast is so beautiful that it is hard not enjoy it. The crew was gracious, view was gorgeous, the food simple but good and I did not feel like I got beat to death by the waves.

We booked a Sea Breeze tour upon arrival into Kauai. As requested we phoned the captain the night before who told us to wait at the boat ramp at 7am (he wouldn't rake my mobile contact number as it wasn't an American mobile). We arrived at 7am and waited for an hour before deducing that it had been cancelled. No one bothered to come to the ramp and tell us. Apparently cancellation was due to bad weather, although Sea Catamarans in Hanalei Bay were still running their tours, but they were sadly fully booked. Based on how we have been treated I would recommend using another boat tour provider.
