Close your eyes for a second and imagine climbing a winding private driveway and just when you round the bend appears a Japanese pagoda style bed & breakfast with 360 degrees of panoramic Hawaiian rainforest views..... welcome to the Palmwood.

The perfect place to check in to check out. After a healthy natural breakfast each morning soak up the sun on personal porches with private hot tubes & outdoor showers or use the secluded swimming pool. On sight bicycles can be used for excercise or a quick ride to the near by “secret beach”. Perfect location for day trips or evening dinner in Princeville or Hanelai Bay and about 15 min north of up and coming Downtown Kapaa.

Our stay at the Palmwood was one for the books, not only do we plan on returning but will cherish the friendships we made with fellow guests!

My new husband and I recently got married on the Big Island and chose to stay at The Palmwood for our Kauai honeymoon after a glowing recommendation from a friend with similar tastes to mine.
We arrived at the property in complete awe of the views and tranquility. There was nobody there when we arrived but plenty of instructions and we like our privacy so didn't mind that there was nobody living on site. Eddi would greet us every morning though and give us really helpful tips based on our plans for the day. And not forgetting her EPIC breakfasts. There isn't any choice in breakfast which might not suit everyone but I like most foods; especially the healthy, quality breakfasts that Eddi prepares and presents so well.
We stayed in the Upper Suite which was very comfortable. We couldn't believe our eyes at the views every morning! If I'm being fussy I would have liked a wardrobe to hang clothes, rather than just shelves, and some cosmetics other than an all in one body and hair wash. But I had my own so no worries and as is outlined, The Palmwood has luxury in other ways than a chain hotel. The calmness, the food, the style and architecture. Expensive (for us) but magnificent.

My husband and I stayed in the west suite for a 4-day getaway late Oct-early Nov and loved every minute of it. The setting was serene and views were beautiful. The property has many different areas to enjoy including the pool area overlooking the hillside, the breakfast area and private space for each suite. The first morning after arrival we had an early excursion, and Eddi graciously sent us off with a delicious packed breakfast of fruit baked French toast in a warming case. We made a point to stay around each morning after that because breakfasts were so enjoyable - relaxing over mugs of coffee with homemade macadamia nut bread, coconut crusted chicken, egg frittata, spiced grilled shrimp. There is a landscaped waterfall outside the bedroom window and a sitting area which is great for evenings. We rode the two bikes down to Larsen’s beach the last morning and though the hills are not for the faint of heart it was awesome. The concierge contact Sonja was also very helpful, setting us up with a great boat charter and tips for dining out. The fish market by Kilauea and Ama in Hanalei Bay were two of our favorites. Can’t wait to go back!

This was the perfect start to our first encounter of the Hawaiian islands. After 22 hours of traveling from Europe we were exhausted and longing to finally arrive. The Palmwood immediately brought our over-heated engines down to the soothing and relaxing "Aloha-spirit" - nowhere could we have found this unique Hawaiian understanding of life more quickly than here.
After arriving in the pitch dark of the night we found the place to be right in the middle of a paradise-like nature setting at the beginning of the next day. Our host Ina, who ran the place in absence of the manager Eddi, greeted us every day with a breakfast that you could not possibly envisage any yummier! She always came up with the most delicious creations, always prepared like a little piece of art with exotic flowers and fruit. She was very caring, always ready to offer advice on where to go and what to check out in the abundance of places on that beautiful island. She is a real expert!
What we found very pleasant about the Palmwood was that we had the perfect combination of privacy and opportunity to get in touch with other people (including our host).
We were staying in the upper suite, which is a gorgeous little apartment with a stunning view on the mountain ridge. Waking up with that vista was fabulous! We also loved spending the evenings on the super-comfy sofa up on the lanai in front of our suite.
There is a little fridge inside the apartment and guests can use the roofed outdoor kitchen for preparing their own meals. There is also a small fireplace next to the swimming pool and a couple of hammocks and lounge chairs on the lawn. There is free WiFi at the Palmwood, however not available inside our apartment, so we had to go downstairs to the lounge, where the connection was no problem.
Once it was time for us to move on to the next place we more than secretely wished we could have stayed for just a little longer...

Room Tip: You will only get that stunning vista on the mountain ridge from the upper suite - nice view particularly when waking up in the morning.

I returned to the Palmwood a year after my first stay. The only bad part of the stay was the final day -- having to say goodbye to the Palmwood and Eddi's hospitality is sadder than words can describe.

We arrived at the Palmwood after months of 80+ hour work weeks, running our business. We needed -- truly needed -- time away. The Palmwood gave us exactly what we needed. The beds are beyond comfortable, and the sheets are divine. (When we returned back to the east coast, we purchased a set of amazing Parachute sheets to help us pretend we were still at the Palmwood). We slept every night, listening to the wind through the trees. We woke each morning with the sun shining, knowing the best of all breakfasts was waiting for us downstairs. We made new friends with the other guests, and truly, truly relaxed.

Calm, peace, meditation, happiness... this is what the Palmwood offers. We travel to Kauai every year, and will never stay any place else again. Mahalo Eddie. Your hospitality was healing to us, and we are very grateful.

Room Tip: Any room is heaven
