This resort was amazing. The rooms were absolutely clean and I stayed in 2 different rooms as I did an extended stay. We went the weekend of the hurricane so it was 3 days of rain in row and we still had a great time we used the jacuzzi which is sheltered so good for those rainy days. You can walk around the whole resort while it’s raining cause it’s sheltered. There some stores to shop, a bar that also serves food. Sushi bar and Dukes Restaurant which is amazing are there everyday. The pool is absolutely huge always a lounge chair available. The walk to the beach is literally 30 second walk from the pool area with amazing view. I would definitely recommend this resort as a couples or even family resort.

The room was meh and not impressive. We had a view of a roof that collected rainwater from our room and the room was small. However, we spent very little time in the room. The pool was awesome as was the grounds. We enjoyed spending time in the evenings in a little beach cabana. We also enjoyed the parrot or macaw and the fish on the grounds. The staff was good and attempted to be friendly and accommodating at all times without being intrusive.

The hotel is in a pretty central location on the island and it's easy to get about if you rent a car (you *will* need a car-parking is easy at the hotel though).

Dine at the Kalapaki Beach Hut, it's a quick walk from the hotel. We ate brunch there everyday; burgers, sandwiches, etc. Just a block further and there is a small convenience store where you can purchase items like soda or candy affordably.

Room Tip: Get a room higher up. Go to convenience store for soda and chips (walking it's 1 block away).

My husband and I booked a long weekend get away and I researched a bunch before deciding where to stay. I ultimately picked the Marriott because of the fact that it had direct access to a beach. First- the hotel is super convenient to the airport and they over a shuttle that is there in 15 min if you call once you’ve gotten your luggage. The grounds themselves are beautiful. The koi pond, asian art tropical plants are all beautiful. Plus the beach which was very quiet when we were there is steps from the pool and there is a nice patch of grass separating the two with cabanas to rent and first come first served chairs to sit in. There’s an enterprise rental on site if you only want to rent a car for the day. The breakfast buffet is nice but expensive. They have special all you can drink mugs for your stay if you know to ask for one at the restaurant. $35 but free refills at two stations by the pool whenever you want. Location is convenient to Luhio we’re there are shops, Walmart and other restaurants.

I’m sad to say there are downsides though. First the lobby is down and escalator and then down more stairs to check in so unless you give your luggage or ask to get access to the elevator, be prepared to drag your strollers, luggage etc downstairs. We paid for a partial view and then we were asked if we wanted to upgrade to a full view. We said yes and we’re the told there weren’t any rooms available. Why ask then? As a long time Marriott a couple t holder my profile specifically says do not place by the elevator. They placed us in a room on the backside of the elevator anyway. After being awakened all night by the elevator banging against the wall, we asked to be moved. We were told a room wasn’t available until 4pm but had to vacate the existing room anyway before noon. They did send the bellman to move our luggage and called us when the new room was available. It worked out ok, but if we had needed to change, get access to our luggage during the day, it would have been very annoying.

I really wanted to love this place despite the room issue especially because the pool was great, but the truth is the whole place is falling apart. The pool tiles, walls etc are chipping and missing tiles. The floor of the pool is gritty and the statues missing pieces. The room furniture it on, but the bathrooms, walls eat all look worn and old despite a coat of paint. The air insider in in the walk way sounded like it was about to die and was putting out no cold air only black dust. I loved renting and relaxing in a beach cabana for the day, but the ant hill under the cabana floor left me with ant bites. They should spray the property like they do at Sandals every afternoon for bugs because the flies, moths, and mesquites were out as week.

Overall we enjoyed our stay but were surprised at the room mess up and the fact that we’re weren’t compensated or even offered a resort credit or points for the mix up. We may be back but only after the pool and rooms get a full makeover.

My wife and our 2 teenagers went to Kauai for 10 days this August, in between the hurricanes. We booked through AAA Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays. We chose the Kauai Marriott Resort based on reviews and its central location on the island. When booking we chose the Garden View Room, and requested Highest Floor, with 1 King, 1 Pull out Sleeper and a Roll A Way. Our room #1703 was ready at 3:00 in the afternoon it is on the 3rd floor of the Ha'upu Tower. This is an older hotel but is very updated and kept extremely clean. One plus was the in-house air-conditioning worked great and was very quiet. The grounds are very beautiful. Walking from self-parking to the hotel is like walking in a rain forest, fantastic grounds with Koi fish ponds and beautiful trees. The people working there were all very nice and helpful. The beach is great for first time surfers, paddle boards, with some snorkeling around the edges. If you like to walk or run in the morning there is a great trail that goes around the Golf Course, also the work out room was very nice. Even though it is close to the airport we never noticed any noise from there. There are plenty of choices within walking distance for dinning and shopping. I would gladly stay here again. One thing to remember on Kauai is the Roosters start crowing at 7:00 am.

This is one of the big resorts in Kauai which we have really enjoyed. On the positive side, the place is huge with great facilities, an amazing pool, very friendly staff, amazing breakfast just a few minutes away from Lihue airport. The beach is nice but certainly not the best as it is situated near the port. Rooms are spacious and clean with great views to the ocean. They are a little bit old through and renovating them would certainly add up to the experience. The hotel bar closes at 10.00 pm. There are shops in the resort and in an area nearby (walking distance). Great atmosphere at night, walking by the beach through the lit torches.
