“Excellent location, value Unit 205”
Reviewed 19 April 2011

Just got back from Maui, had a wonderful time in KBR unit 205. Unit had everything we needed and more.. beach chairs, 2 coolers, pool toys, and a fully stocked kitchen. The condo was very clean, loved the beach themed decor and we had more than enough towels, etc. Awesome location directly across the street from Charley Young Beach and a few restaurants and ABC store within a few blocks. The only drawback was the noise level.. the bedroom window of the condo was right outside of the walkway and the walls seemed very thin. We could hear almost everything that was going on outside and within neighboring units. The neighbors were very friendly and fairly quiet though (with the exception of kids running up and down the walkway one night.. not very romantic!).
I would definitely recommend this unit, we will be back next year!

If you are thinking of visiting Maui, definitely stay in Kihei at the KBR. Great place & close to everything. Walking distance to many beaches, ABC store, Whalers general Store, & so many other shops.
We stayed in Unit 201 (found on mauiownercondos.com under Kihei). It is 3 bedrooms, 2 bath , with everything you need. Very clean & spacious. Great price at $275 (we go in march). Quiet building with a great roof top lanai (with a communal bbq) and pool. We had no issues while we were there.
Family has stayed there twice and will be again in march of 2012.
Pictures are from March 2010 & looks to have been upgraded since then.

We had the pleasure of spending the entire month of October at the Kamaole Beach Royale and it was fantastic. This was our 9th visit to KBR and we wouldn't stay anywhere else. The unit we always take is on the 6th floor and has an unbelievable view. It is a one bedroom and comes with everything you need to make your visit enjoyable - washer/dryer, fully equipped kitchen, separate bedroom, beautiful lanai and spectacular views. We enjoyed the sunsets every night up on the roof, did a bit of barbequing there too, and met some really lovely people. The pool area is, for the most part, very quiet and pleasant. We certainly didn't see any evidence of a downturn in the tourist business in Maui this time. The beach was quite populated but since it's so large we never felt it was "crowded". Vince, Rose, Nancy and Rosemary went out of their way to make our visit go smoothly. Anything that wasn't quite working right Vince took care of immediately and with good humour. Thanks KBR - see you again in two years.

Pros-clean/spacious unit with nice view, across the street from a lovely beach park, free/easy parking, minutes from good/reasonably-priced restaurants, supermarkets, health food store, snorkling equip rental places, near Powerhouse gym, newly-renovated pool on-site, very nice/obviously very hard-working staff, lovely grounds, nice bbq area on-site, washer/dryer in room

Cons-No air conditioning in rooms, lacks resort curb appeal (it's more like staying @ friend's old townhouse) eg-unit fixtures/equipment in kitchen/bathroom/doors/tv dated/rusted out, noisy street.

It was apparent that the staff are doing the best they can with the hand they've been dealt. This is a great 2 star resort for families on a tight budget.

In a nutshell, KBR is keeper, conveniently located in Kihei. The beach is a 90-second walk away. Grocery stores, dive and snorkel shops, sports bars and basic eateries are within a few hundrerd yards in either direction. The quality of our condo, 205, was excellent. No glitches, no problems. Everything clean. Other reviews indicate that unit quality varies from one to another. I have no doubt that's the case. The noise level from the outside parking lot work was annoying, but we spent very little time in the condo and most of our time outside snorkeling and exploring. If you're into high-end pampering from the posh resorts hotels, this place isn't for you. Gorgeous, high-end resorts are a couple of miles south of KBR. However, if you want a solid condo value for the money, expedient access to get daily stuff and reasonable drive times to snorkeling or golf spots, KBR will probably work quite nicely for you.

We went with friends. Loved this place! The area is perfect, very calm and relaxed. It is not the tourist trap like other areas of Maui can be. Food all within walking distance, along with a shave ice spot, admittingly we ate breakfast where every day! Staff was super friendly. They have a slew of things you can borrow for free such as boogie boards and snorkels. Just ask the staff, they will tell you what and who to see for the sights. They also have a lot of coupons for local events.

My family and I recently stayed in unit 212. The unit is very well stocked with plenty of towels and every kitchen gadget you could need. The office staff was wonderful and the the whole complex was very well maintained.

The best part of staying here though is the amazing roof top patio. We did not know that it was there when we booked our stay so we were pleasantly surprised. The patio itself is not pretty, but the KBR is the largest building in the area so the view was breathtaking. Gas grills are available on the patio so we took our drinks and our dinner and enjoyed the amazing sunset. I highly recommend doing this if you stay here. The cafe across the street was great for morning coffee and bagels and the taco shop was some of the best that I ever had.

Only a couple of semi-negatives:
The unit that we stayed in is in desparate need of updating. The wallpaper is peeling and the furniture is old and uncomfortable. It also only had one small widow air conditioner that only cooled the sitting room, which meant that we were uncomfortably hot trying to sleep. We tried turning the air as cool as it would go and leaving the bedroom doors open (no privacy), or opening all the windows to get the breeze but neither really worked.

I definatly recommed that you stay at the KBR, just ask for an updated unit with air conditioning.
