We booked through PMI and everything went smoothly. While we were there they were in contact with us over e-mail, and when I needed to call them they answered immediately and were very professional. We rented a ground floor one bedroom unit. Building 7 unit 105. The unit was recently renovated with all new bathrooms and kitchen. The kitchen is very well equipped, there were enough towels, beach towels, and beach accessories. King sized bed was comfortable. There was an air conditioner, but we did not need it much. The lay out is such that a nice breeze flows most of the time if you have the hall door open. Each unit is different as each has a different owner and/or rental manager. So be sure to get the details of what you are offered, including pictures. The landscaping is beautiful and the exterior is well maintained. We loved being on the ground floor, and I recommend that for anyone with kids as they can come in and out and play on the grass in front of the lanai. The beach is as good or better than others on Maui. You can walk to some restaurants easily. The location in Kihei is very good. Kihei is often sunny when other parts of the island have rain. We booked through VRBO, which added to the cost which was already high. I would stay here again, but maybe be more pro-active in booking earlier to get a bit of a saving.

We have stayed at this resort many times and have never had such an out-dated room.
There were 5 of us adults and they left us with 6 bath towels for 2 weeks!. No beach towels, no beach chairs, nothing! When I opened the sofa bed for my son a bug ran across the sheets. My daughter's bed sheets had stains. This is a beautiful resort but book only though Airbnb or VRBO. My friend rented a room at this resort through VRBO...gorgeous!! Had everything they needed and more! We didn't even have foil or saran wrap! Really disappointed with Castle Resorts. I thought they should have a better standard. We paid more than my friend who rented through VRBO.

Ouch Miriam - I am so sorry to read this and we have some work to do - I will look up where you stayed and get on this. When you do return to Kamaole Sands reach out to me directly so I may handle your booking - we usually share pictures of your accommodations with our arriving guests and I will do so with you as well.. Great place to stay in Maui! We rented a one bedroom unit. It had 2 baths, both with showers, which made getting ready easier and cleaning up from the beach (right across the street) faster! Designated parking, pool, and well-kept gardens. Private porch. Very happy with our stay!

We stayed in a unit managed by HSI. I have tried to figure out how to review HSI and have not yet found a way to do so. When I do, I will make a review for them specifically.

We stayed in unit 7-402. This is a top level condo, two bedroom two bath and a nice balcony.

Checking in at the office was fast and straightforward.

We had an assigned parking space directly adjacent to the entrance to our building.

The condo, at first glance seemed run down and dirty. The carpet in the bedrooms is badly stained. The tile in the kitchen is damaged (it looked dirty but it was actually missing chips out of the floor). There were roach traps dispersed throughout the kitchen (turns out that when you turn out the lights the roaches came out).

The layout of the unit is actually quite cool. The first bedroom is at the front of the unit by the entrance. There is a bathroom adjacent to this 12x12 room (queen bed). This is the room with extremely stained carpet. The bed was above average. The room has a smallish TV. The bathroom is smallish. The floor and shower are VERY slippery when wet. We requested some slip resistant mats the day of our arrival (we had to leave a message for HSI because they are not available on the weekend) and mats were finally delivered on Wednesday. This front bedroom had a portable floor mounted AC appliance. This is a NOISY thing, though it did make the room much more comfortable temperature wise.

The next room encountered is the kitchen. We found that there were varied and sufficient dishes and utensils, though the things in the cupboards were FAR from clean. We put everything in the dishwasher up front. The kitchen smelled much better after washing the dishes.

There is a pullout bed/couch in the family room area. This was an above average bed. There is a window mount/through the wall ac unit in this room. It is VERY loud, but certainly helped take the edge off of the heat.

There is a very cool spiral staircase that leads up to the second bedroom. This is the larger bedroom with a larger bathroom. The condo ran out of hot water VERY quickly every morning. We did have 4 adults and two children in our party. The unit is meant to house up to six people, though the hot water situation is clearly inadequate for so many quests. This upper bedroom is loft in every sense of the word. It is open to the family room area below with little to no privacy. The ceiling is very high. There are two fans in this area, but noticeably NO air conditioning. The other thing that was hard to deal with is that the light fixtures in the second bedroom did not work. We replaced the light bulbs, we tried everything, to no affect.

The floor plan is unique and actually quite cool. Too bad the place has not been better maintained or updated.

The lack of real air conditioning is a serious negative. We hoped for significant ocean breezes so that we could be comfortable and not have to run the window shaking noisy low class air conditioners.

This particular unit does not come with any house keeping during the course of your stay. We were told we could order and pay for house keeping if do desired. We made arrangements for a midweek housekeeping hit the week before traveling to Maui. No one ever came to do this house keeping.

Calling HSI is a complete joke. We spent 45 minutes and longer on hold on the phone to try and address the issues with the unit. HSI was utterly non-responsive.

We made use of the bbq facilities several evenings. They were clean and functional. This was a very nice part of our stay.

There are beautiful gardens around the resort.

The pool was large, clean and warm. We very much enjoyed spending time at the pool after dark.

The view from the lanai was very nice, though NOT exactly a city or ocean view. It's best description would be a garden view.

Room tip: Try and find one that has real air conditioning, the portables and window shakers are WAY to noisy to be able to sleep with them running.

Reasons for staying here: toddler friendly (full kitchen, backyard, across the street from Kamaole Sands III), bang-for-the-buck (beds for 5 for $300?!)

We were considering this vs Andaz and we're super glad we chose this place! Pro tip: you can still go visit Andaz for the day (valet parking is free). You can check out the property in parts of my vlog (spoiler alert: I got to swim with a turtle right across the street)! YouTube Channel: New Dads
