Our room was a little dated but was very clean. Terrible view over the roof however. The bars and restaurants at the hotel were fab and the staff were wonderful

We stayed for 5 nights at the Hyatt in Lahaina. The property was beautiful and our daughter (8) loved the pool and waterside. They had a great workout facility and there is a 2.5 mile loop to run along the beach. It is in walking distance to Whaler's Village (shopping). Overall- we were thrilled we picked the Hyatt!

My wife and I spent the first 4 nights of our honeymoon here and loved it. We stayed in the penthouse ocean front room, talk about a view. Being on Eastern time, I woke up before sunrise each morning to an awesome sunrise. Also, we really enjoyed watching the whales right out in front of the hotel...just watch the boats chasing after them and you will spot the spouts in no time. Also, going to bed each night with waves crashing in the background was so nice. Everything and everyone at the hotel was so nice. The front desk was extremely helpful and the restaurant was really good (pricey but definitely worth trying 1 night). If you get a chance, check out Mala which is just as you enter Lahaina...so good. We even ran into a fellow Clemson Tiger there who was the bar tender. Really cool guy and recommended the Seared Ahi Bruschetta....you will not regret it!
We did not do the Luah although it looked pretty cool. From our room, we pretty much experienced the whole thing minus the food/drinks from our balcony. The beach trail in front of the hotel was pretty cool too. This was a lot of rambling, but the Hyatt was great and would definitely recommend it!

Top food, great view, rent a jeep and drive around the island, magnificant is all I can say.

The road to Hana is unreal.

I loved the pool with the waterfalls, and pool with white swans in the restaurant.

Room Tip: get one high up facing the beach.

yes, everybody loves penguins!! they were so cute. They live in the hotel lobby!! Everything was fablous; pools, food, fitness room and rooms. Each room had a fridge and coffee pots. We rented a car from the hotel and had no problems with it. The bell staff was very helpful. Newspapers delivered every morning.

Room Tip: location location!! ask for it, either the golf course, ocean, pool, another building or parking lot...

The Hyatt Regency is a beautiful property. The views from the ocean front rooms are amazing. The rooms are adequate in size and nicely furnished...mind you nothing fancy. The beds are platform beds and not very comfortable unless you like a VERY firm mattress for sleeping . The rooms are layed out well, and you are able to move about easily......BUT the biggest drawback, especially of the ocean fron rooms...no matter what floor you are on..We were on the 20th) are extremely noisy. I truly enjoy sitting on the balcony and watching the whales and the beautiful sunsets, but each afternoon-evening until at least 9:00PM sometimes later, there was loud live music being played at both of the outdoor venues, and somestimes three. Each resturant...Japango, and Umulu had their own performer with different types of music...so the noise that one heard in the middle was not really pleasant. Out of the 7 nights that we were there, 4 of the nights they had outside parties on the lawns below. One night it was a birthday party of about 100 people with a live band that was great, but went until 11:00 or so, mixed in with the other venues music was not very peaceful. The other large parties were obviously companies who were using the hyatt for their meetings. Great idea, but Hyatt should have alternate area for these types of events so that the guests not involved with the business can have some peace and quiet that one pays for when on a "relaxing" vacation. Our room was a nice prime room, and certainly was not inexpensive. We should not have been subjected to the cacophony of noise and lack of privacy . The resturants Japangeo, and Swan court serve very good food...again not inexpensive...but good. The service in japango
is slow and disappointing. The settings are beautiful. The main pool is nice but crowded with the usual people who awake at 6:am to through their towels on a chair, and don't show up till noon.. They have a seperate smaller area especially for kids which includes a water slide etc. and is nice. We have stayed at this hyatt in the past, but this time the experience was somewhat more challenging. We won't be returning to this property. If you don't mind the noise on a continual basis, this could be a hotel for you. It has the location and the setting, but you pay dearly for both. (including 25.00 resort fee which gives you "free internet" not high speed, and 18.00 valet parking fee. ( We did get a lei upon arrival from very pleasant and efficient staff members.) Free

I was so disappointed that we were not lei'd upon arrival!

The Front Office staff had them there behind the counter when we showed up with our suitcases. Was it not made clear that we were checking in even though we said that we were checking in? As if we were going to ask for them! By the end of the trip I was lei'd countless times so this is not a deal breaker. But if the Hyatt wants to call themselves a five star and they have the staff right there and the lei right there - and I say "Hi Im checking in" - they need to be on the ball.

The Deluxe Ocean View rooms are recently renovated and they do have a nice view of the sea, Lanai in the distance as well as lush garden-like grounds below. Ask for a room on a higher floor to receive the best view possible. These rooms are nice and tastefully decorated; not "too Hyatt" and not "too Hawaiian". Good large sized closet and robe, but no slippers. Private triangular balcony with table and two chairs.

The staff were nice and mostly from the mainland USA. For example, we met so many people from Boston, all wonderful and very friendly. The restaurants we tried at the hotel were too expensive and not very good. Even the breakfast buffet; not very good. Plus it is inescapably indoor/outdoor and therefore there are lots of birds flying around your food. (We had a delicious dinner at the Honua Kai down the beach, prices much more reasonable in comparable if not better location.)

The hotel is way to big something like 800 or so but it feels like thousands and thousands. Took me 10 minutes to hustle from my room on the 8th floor down to the main lobby area. But because the hotel is too big there are many shops including a large Macy's and everything you could require.

The expansive grounds are gorgeous, very well maintained, floral and lush. Meandering pathways, Asian Gardens and penguins. So many amenities here to choose from. A great number of pools - though not always open - and a groovy Grotto Pool Bar!

Valet was friendly; efficient.

One thing I must mention that truly impressed me: housekeeping.

We took the Haleakala Sunrise Volcano tour and had to leave the hotel at 2:30am. I was so happy to find my room had already been made up - upon my return to the hotel about 10:00am. Could hardly believe it! It makes sense though. People who take these tours do not like having someone interrupt them while they're trying to catch a few zzzz during prime maid service hours. Clearly the hotel listened and has found a away around this. Fantastic, well done!

Room Tip: Request High Floor for Best View :)
