We spent three very relaxed nights here during our stay in Maui.
With all the services located inside the resort it really was a one stop place to stay.
Our partial ocean room was nice but couldn’t really see the ocean at all as it was on level 3.

Stayed: November 2017, travelled as a couple

The rooms were clean, kitchens were equipped with everything. They provided soap for washer. The daily resort fee of 30+ was a little much. Beaches were nice and you could walk way past Black Rock. We flew a huge kite and got stuck in tree and they were able to retrieve it.

Room Tip: the resort fees include wi fi...which is spotty

We've stayed at Honua Kai for the past 8 years. We rented a variety of condos through VBRO however, some owners will rent to you directly. It's a class act and we enjoyed each time we went.

There are a ton of Restaurants close by but Duke's is right on the property and has a great bar and Happy Hour and serves the best calamari for dinner. I would avoid ordering from Duke's pool-side menu during the day. Most of it is fried food and really heavy especially if it's hot out.

The grounds are kept immaculate but the overall facility needs a major facelift. The pools were just remodeled and updated this year so they're good to go for several years to come.

We may stay here again on our next trip to Maui and I still recommend it but we may also check out some of the newer properties next door.

Room Tip: Most rooms have ocean views but best views are above the 3rd floor.

We arrived, only to find that our room was upgraded! It was an amazing 2 bed top floor penthouse suite...looking to the ocean view and the sunsets were beyond amazing! There are 5 or 6 pools and the staff is lovely! We hope to come back for our anniversary every year - Room 606!
