Nice resort, dated but worked

Review of Royal Kahana
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Oct 22, 2017via mobile
We stayed in room 715, a 1 bedroom ocean front with kitchen oct 7 - 18. Late check out at 4 cost us $57 and change. The place was dated but very clean. Bed was very comfortable. Great view. Nice kitchen and location in the Kahana area. The pool was small but fine and clean. The employees were very friendly especially Alofa who checked us in. The windy days made for some howling as the Windows didn’t quite shut airtight which allowed us to hear people in the hall talking like they were in our room, not so good. Our stay overall was pretty good. Parking was at a minimum with some very tight stalls but we survived just fine. I would definitely stay here again. Not a big party zone either which worked for us.

The Royal Kahana is exactly the type of place we love to stay in, The condo style suits us best. We were there for 10 amazing days and really have nothing negative to say. We were in room 716 which seems to have been renovated in the recent past. Granite countertops throughout and a beautifully tiled shower, up to date appliances. They have 3 elevators and I'm sure there are busier times of the year but we rarely had to share them. The staff was awesome talked to us everyday asking how are day was and very helpful even if you're just looking to find a cheap place to eat quick. The pool was never crowded and very clean. The beach was gorgeous most of our trip but the surf picked up a little towards the end so the beach disappeared. We still saw turtles nearly every day. You can't stop Mother Nature and it didn't bother us at all. Still excellent to watch the sun set. If you're somebody looking for a resort find one of those. If you want a nice chill place that feels like home in paradise this is an excellent option. Hope to return someday!

We rented a 2 bedroom condo and it was great. Overlooked the ocean and the pool, was clean and roomy and comfortable. It did appear that the shoreline is disappearing quite near the building as there were huge sand tubes on the ocean side. Waves were a bit rough for the entire week, but we did go out into the ocean a bit.

We rented a one bedroom condo with an ocean view, Clean, air-conditioned, equipped kitchen, washer, dryer, etc. We enjoyed the view, the pool, the proximity to everything in Lahaina. Good beaches, restaurants, activities. The Royal Kahana is in the middle of things so a car is a must.

Room tip: Request an ocean view and be on your balcony to enjoy the sunset. Beautiful.

We stayed in room 917 and we thoroughly enjoyed it! We didn't have really high expectations after reading the reviews and it is not as expensive as other properties but we loved it here. It is good value for money, right on the beach. The beach is small but still really good swimming and awesome sunsets. Heaps of parking available, outdoor and under cover. I loved having a kitchen in our studio, so we could make our own meals and not eat out all the time. There are also BBQ's to use in the pool area. The laundry in our room was super handy too. It isn't a 5 star property, it is definitely a 3 star.

The staff at reception could have been nicer. They never smiled or friendly when I asked a question or throughout check in/check out process. They were actually quite rude.

Apart from the staff I would recommend staying here if you want decent accommodation without paying a fortune.

I just flew home after a wonderful week at this resort. I have to say that after booking and reading all the negative reviews I was apprehensive about my stay at the Royal Kahana that I booked through Costco but was surprised and thankful for the wonderful condo that we stayed in. Condo 810 is the best that anyone could ask for as far as view and room for a party of 4 ... parents and two young adults. Everyone was wonderful from the time we checked until the time we left. Chip was awesome for giving you a plethora of adventures that he highly recommended. We were never bored and busy the whole the week. If you like 4 star resorts with all the amenities this is not for you... but if you are family just wanting a nice place to kick back and relax then this is a wonderful place. There is coffee, general store/gas station, McDonalds, and Maui Brewing in walking distance across the street so the location is great if you want a quiet stay. Also like most places in Hawaii where you have to pay for your car you don't here which a plus. The beach is trying to come back and there was people walking and playing in the ocean out front the whole time as well as turtles. I would definately stay here again.... I didn't want to leave the view. Wish I could of brought it home with me. Thanks Royal Kahana for making my vacation with my family a memorable one.

Room tip: Ocean front two bedroom is the way to go... we booked a one bedroom and were upgraded upon arrival to a two bedroom with 3 bathrooms.
