My wife & I stayed for 6 nights the end of March 2011. We had just come from Honolulu and was glad we chose the Aina Nalu. The front desk staff were polite and very helpful. The location was great because we would just walk to Front Street every day/night to enjoy the ocean/shopping/food!! It is just directly east of the Banyon Tree and only takes 2 or 3 minutes to hit Front Street. The pools are both nice and great to soak up the sun!! The whale watching trip we booked through the onsite expedia people was worth every penny!! We loved the room with the full kitchen and was glad to have a washer & dryer to wash our clothes after spending 6 nights in Honolulu. The only regret we had about this place was when we had to check out and fly back home. I would definitely book this hotel again!!

Room Tip: book a room by the pool!!

My wife and I booked a studio unit through Air Canada Vacations and stayed 7 nights last week in May. Before arriving in Maui, I spent lots of time checking out the reviews on TripAdvisor. As anyone can see, for the most part it is rated a pretty good property. And of course there are a few negative reviews mixed in. Here is the thing. You get what you pay for. This is not the Four Seasons or Ritz-Carlton, and they don;t charge the same prices as those luxury resorts. No, the staff or the service is not great- it is just okay. But the units are nicely appointed- the grounds and pool areas are very nice- and the location in Lahaina close to Front St. is amazing. So if you take all in to consideration, you are getting a pretty good resort for a decent price. Yes, the $15 parking they charge is a bit annoying, but pricier hotels charge more. And I find it funny that people who reviewed the hotel here, coplained that they were 'surprised' about being charged $15 for parking. If they would have read the TA reviews before their trip or looked on the Outrigger website, they would have known.

The Aina Nalu was a great location to start every day during our vacation in Maui. We stayed in the 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite which was excellent for our family of four. The location was excellent being 2 blocks from the Lahaina Harbour, close to amenities (grocery stores and shopping) and central to most activities. Don't be fooled by the exterior ... our room was modern and spacious. As a bonus, the internet service was free ... which was very important for our socially connected family! And the beautiful salt water pool was a relaxing way to end each day. It was also very helpful to have the Expedia Activities & Tours expert on site ... the information shared during the orientation really helped us finalize our activities and having the booking agent onsite made it sooo easy! We would definitely recommend this property to anyone heading to Maui.

We just returned from 10 days in Maui at Aina Nalu. I searched and used numerous sites to get all the details and reviews possible about Aina Nalu. I am happy to say that Aina Nalu was everything that we had hoped for and more! Our family used the full kitchen for a few dinners and breakfast everyday. The kitchen was beautiful and well stocked with pots, pans, toaster, coffee maker; everything you need. Front Street is short walk away and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from. Based on advise from other reviews, we choose to park on the street versus paying the $15 per day for parking in the Aina Nalu parking lot. We never had a problem finding a spot on the street right in front of the hotel. We did park close to our room in the parking to unload/load the car and then just moved to the street. Everyone at the resort was very friendly and attentive. We had one issue with the washing machine: the hot/cold water hoses were reversed, so when you tried to do a load of laundry on cold, the water was hot! We let the front desk know on our way out to dinner one night and the next morning someone was at our door ready to fix the problem. And they did!
Based on the advise of a review, I emailed the hotel a few weeks before our arrival and requested a room on the second floor, away from the highway. Upon our arrival, they placed us in an end unit, on the other side of the resort from the highway and on the second floor. When we got to our room, we were surprised to find that they had moved us up to a 2 Bed, 2 Bath room (we reserved and paid for a 2 Bed, 1 Bath). That goes a long way with us! We really appreciated the efforts they made to accommodate our request. It was so quiet - we never heard another guest - literally! Other reviews complained of a lot of noise, but we sure did not encounter that. The rooms are very nice, very clean and well maintained.
Aina Nalu is a great place and I highly recommend it!

The accommodations are truly fantastic. I couldn't believe the quality and finish of our 1 bedroom suite. We were upgraded from a studio at no charge upon arrival, so we were excited about that anyhow. My only complaint about the entire place is the the pillows weren't soft, but the couch pillows from the living room were perfect. I really can't find anything else to complain about, and I love to complain.

The location is perfect. Just off the popular Front Street in Lahaina, and you can walk down a short alley way to the rear entrance of the Wharf Cinema Center and you come out on the south end of Front Street, right in front of Banyan Tree Park. There isn't a better place to be on the whole island in my opinion. Local Boys Shave Ice is the best we had and it's about one block south from there. They have 2 for 1 coupons on the back of Safeway receipts if you go to Safeway.

The pools, grills, lounge chairs and cabanas were all 10/10 condition. The large pool was really neat- an infinity pool that's fresh water- and the area for picnicking or just watching the game near the larger pool was very posh.

The full kitchen comes with everything- even tupperwear- so hit up the local grocery store and save yourself some money on breakfast and lunches.

I would stay at the exact same place again if we got the same deal. The staff and entire location was epic.

Tips:
Park on the street. There is ample street parking and for $15/day it isn't worth the fee. We had a four door Jeep Wrangler and never had a problem finding parking.

Buy laundry detergent and the like... they give you one box for free but we wore the same thing every day (suit and a tank top or swim dress) and we washed our clothes each night. The washer and dryer actually did a great job and was quiet enough to use when going to sleep.

If you are into bang for your buck, go to a Timeshare at Wyndham Outrigger just three blocks north (park in the giant parking lot and they validate). We got two free scooters for 24 hours, which was a blast, and it cost us 45 minutes of our time. Once they see you are not interested they let you go.

Room Tip: Book a Studio and ask for a 1 bedroom upon arrival

Returned to Aina Nalu with my partner and friend in May, after first visiting during Reno period in 2007. Wow was it ever beautiful!

As previous the room decor was suitable Hawaiian w new black appliances. We had a two bedroom condo w one bath. Only issue was the second bdrm did not have it's own AC, so our friend had to keep her door open.

While the saltwater pool & surrounding area is absolutely beautiful, we stuck to the freshwater pool. Also beautiful, usually uncrowded, always a chaise available.

We also used the BBQs which worked fine.

Location is perfect. I lie wing in Lahaina & being able to walk to dinner / socialize at night. Check out Penne just around the corner. Also there's a few grocery stores in close proximity for stocking the fridge.

Also used Expedia concierge on site. Very handy!

We just returned from a one week stay in Maui at Aina Nalu. When booking this trip I relied on the Tripadvisor reviews (which for the most part were excellent). I have to say that this hotel delivered 100%. I didn't think I would want/need a washer and/or dryer on vacation but with all that sand.....it was fantastic! No, we didn't actually cook on vacation either, but to have a full kitchen for snacks and easy breakfast was perfect, not to mention a place to keep the leftovers from lunch and dinner. There is a grocery store nearby and all the restaurants and shops are a quick walk from the hotel. Lahaina Coolers on Dickenson is a must do, along with Lahaina Fish Co on Front Street.
Yes, the parking is $15 a day, however you can park right by your room and not have to trudge through the entire grounds carrying all your items. There is parking on the street, however be warned the streets are VERY narrow. Trust me, spend the $15.....you are on vacation here people!!!
The staff was great - front desk was friendly and attentive, the housekeeping staff learned quickly what time we were out of the room and it was always tidied up when we returned. The rooms were in good condition. There were some marks on the walls from what I assume are people kicking of their shoes or pushing their luggage up against the walls but other than that we have no compliants.
The grounds are gorgeous! There were a lot of guests, but never was there no room for people at either pool. The beach is a quick wallk also, and within a 10 minute drive in either direction you can be at 3 or 4 other beaches.
We drove up to Kaanapali where the "mega" hotels are and I am so glad we stayed in Lahaina. I would stay at Aina Nalu again.
