“Safari Boat Excursions are Fun, Fun, FUN!!”
Reviewed 2 April 2012

My cousin's wife made the reservations, and told us we were going on a Safari. She got it right, it was an adventure of the First Class!

From the moment Captain Dave Larsen said, "Turn Off Your Cellphones, we are going where there is no reception" I knew we were in for something special. A Very Special Adventure!

Captain Dave and Captain Eric made our trip wonderful; we felt pampered and teased, all at the same time. We made friends, we saw incredible sights, fish, bottlenose dolphins and humpback whales.

We just barely got out of the Lahaina Harbor, and Captain Dave gave us a safety talk. All the important stuff....and then..... there were no rules, except to have fun!

Captain Dave designed and built his boat, the Lanakila, just for these waters, just for the boat tour around Lanai. It has everything for the comfort of the passenger; storage under the seats, hand rails for safety, water to rinse off the sea water, good food and even a "head". There are windows that unroll in case of bad weather, (we did not need them).

The Captain has a great story for everything, stories, history and a warm brand of crazy makes this trip FUN! He has music that seems to fit every turn and every snorkel spot just perfectly.

As the Captain said, You pay a little more for this trip, but you get a whole lot more. He owns his boat and he can take it where he wants to. He can get his MoJo back by running through channels and up into caves. He can give you a thrill and the best snorkeling all on the same cruise.

If you don't do anything else while on Maui, go out with Captain Dave and Captain Eric on the Safari Boat Excursion. It is the experience of a lifetime! you will never forget it.
Have Fun! Life is short!

“Crazy Dave and his crews were fabulous.”
Reviewed 1 April 2012

This is probably the best snorkel adventure off of Maui. A little more expensive than some of the cheaper outfits that just go to Molokini, but Crazy Dave goes around the entire island of Lanai that nobody else does. Definitely worth the extra money. Saw lots of fish, jumped off small cliffs, went in caves, just great. Saw a huge pod of dolphins on our way back from Lanai to Maui. What a sight. Liked this trip so much, we went on one of their whale watching excursions a couple days later. Also outstanding. Couldn't rate them higher. Had captain Dave and first mate Bobby on the snorkel adventure and Captain Eric and Lindsey on the whale watch. All were very, very nice and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

“Way more than just a boat trip!”
Reviewed 31 March 2012

My daughter and I went on Captain Dave's tour around Lana'i yesterday and we both highly recommend it! She had been on the trip 5years earlier with other family members and it had been so memorable for her then she insisted we take the trip together again. The tour around Lana'i was incredibly informative, entertaining. It was not scripted and Captian Dave and Bobbi were knowledgable and spontaneous. We will be back!

“We had a Whale of a time”
Reviewed 30 March 2012

We booked this outing with Lori from Tom Barefoot and we could not have done better.
The boat `Lanakila`, is fast, comfortable, and gets you in the right place for some first class views of the humpback whales, and also spinner dolphins were on the scene.
Boarding take very little time due to taking smaller parties of around 30 passengers. The larger boats take longer to board, therefore you get less time at sea than with Safari Boat Excursions. From start to finish, the skipper and crew were first class and really looked after us and found plenty of whales to view.
Even before we sailed, we were entertained with some reef sharks behind the bamboo hut used for booking, and very lively they were too.
We would like to thank the staff and crew, and once again thanks to Lori for finding two excellent outings for us. (The other was a flight round the southern part of the big island volcano area).
Thanks again,
Martin, Dee, Patrick & Kath. UK

“Best Boat Trip on Maui.....Skip Molokini”
Reviewed 24 March 2012

My husband I visit Maui twice a year and we never miss Captain Dave's trip around Lanai. We've even brought mom along a couple of times. Weather and snorkeling are always perfect. Dave and his crew are knowledgeable and entertaining. We think we've done the trip 5 or 6 times, but lost count. Each trip is a different adventure, always something new...tons of fish, live coral, turtles, octopus, dolphins, caves, rock formations, and great stories about the islands. Dave take's care of you....very safe, plenty of food and drinks, especially the cookies on the way back! This is NOT a tourist trap like those horrible Molokini trips....you get your money's worth on this one! And if you have a chance, stay at the Sheraton, Kaanapali Beach, on Black rock, building 6, ocean front. It's the best. Aloha!
