“JAN 2012 STAY AT MAHANA”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 January 2012

This condo bldg is directly on ocean edge....Million dollar view with floor to ceiling windows (all ocean front units)
Construction going on next door(should be told in advance or discount in lieu) Ask if unit has been updated!!
Only complaint...wish room # was assigned before arrival...We unfortunately had to move shortly after arriving....It was more updated but they wanted us to move again near end of vacation due to misunderstanding on check-in...
Found condo pricey especially since lack of services ie no bell hops...Had to carry own luggage & groceries...Arrived at 10pm after very long flight...took too long to get checked-in
It pays to rent car to see island sites...took excursions with Pacifice Whale Foundation (animal and environmentally friendly) Best ever crew...Met some wonderful people on excursions...Big Hi to Dennis & Diane from Minnisota...

Room Tip: Book Lanai Bldg... Molokai bldg under construction...try to get room assigned in advance.. Request...

My wife and I stayed here for 5 days and we throughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff here were very friendly and helpful when needed. We rented a deluxe studio and our room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. Having a washer and dryer in the room made it even more convenient. The grounds and facilities were well maintained and inviting. We really enjoyed sitting out on the balcany and watching the Humpback whales. We've all ready recommended staying here to our son.

We recently enjoyed our week at the Aston Mahana. We loved the tranquility this condo provides and it was so quiet we felt like we were the only ones there! Our 1 bedroom spacious unit on the 10th showed some wear on the couch and the carpet had some stains. Those were the only negatives. The floor to ceiling windows do make the room warm in the late afternoon sun but as soon as the sun sets problem solved. The ocean views and sunsets were spectacular all day long and provided the best whale watching of our entire trip. The staff were helpful, friendly and responsive. We are already planning our next visit and can't wait to return!

Room Tip: Request a room above the 7th floor for best views above the trees.

Me and my partner stayed here for a weekend and we absolutely loved it! We were originally booked into a studio but were upgraded to a gorgeous 1-bedroom suite. We gasped the moment we walked into our room as we noticed the most amazing ocean view we have ever seen from a hotel room. The ocean was literally 25 feet away from the hotel! Incredible! Surprised the hotel hasn't fallen into the ocean yet! *knock on wood*. The only issues I had was that our phone and A/C wasn't working properly. The hotel itself is also lacking in toiletries... We needed to drive out to a store to purchase a toothbrush which was a bit inconvenient. The pool at the property is quite large but we didn't use it because the ocean was right there! There are grills available for you to cook your own food as well!

TIPS: Remember to pack all essential toiletries and purchase some groceries before you check into hotel. Due to limited space the hotel does not store luggage upon early arrival; check in time is at 3pm. No valet or bell services but parking lot is right in front of hotel so nothing to worry about.

We had an ocean front studio on the 10th floor that was clean, and well maintained. You can not get a better view or better location. Lying in bed we can see the Humpback whales breaching and the sea turtles feeding on the coral reef right outside our Lanai. The sunsets were fantastic.
The staff is so friendly and accommodating, especially Susan at the activities desk. This was a dream vacation and I would stay there again and again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is up higher to see the whales.

We stayed at the Mahana for 2 weeks in Jan 2012 and here are highlights of what we liked:
-clean rooms (and a nice room with full kitchen)
-beautiful groomed shrubs, flowers, lawn etc.
-helpful staff
-amazing views from each unit
-saw lots of whales breaching from our balcony
-fun 'land' curling on ocean front
-tennis courts in good shape and rackets/balls/court time are provided for free
-situated on nicest beach in Maui and close to all great snorkelling beaches in Kaanapali
-beach sand out front is the softest you could imagine
-each unit had a DVD player (in Sony playstation)
-free movies with a huge selection including new DVDs
-expedia tour expert on site
-poolside snack bar with reasonable prices
-beach towels provided
-free event tickets for the Kapalua PGA given to us at check in

Here is what I did not like:
-charges $0.75 per phone call from the land line
-beach immediately out front had lots of coral and were not great snorkel/swim beaches (don't go out without rash gaurd and aqua socks/booties). Within a couple hundred metres on euther side of the property, the swimming was good.
-no recycling on site for paper products (not that I could see)
-pullout couch was great for kids but was not great for adults - (in the Mahana's defense, I did not complain or request a new mattress or cover etc).

The positive far outweigh the negative at the Mahana. We stayed twice at the Maui Kai next door and the Mahana is slightly more expensive than the Maui Kai and it was worth every cent.

We spent the first week of January in room 404. This is a terrific condo. Beautifully decorated and maintained. A full picture window of the ocean with views from Lanai to Molokai. The first thing every morning I would open the curtains for the view and open the door to the balcony to hear the ocean. A great room for watching the surfers and the people walking the beach and for whale watching. You can walk to Duke's Restaurant for sunset dinners.

Room Tip: Room 404 was great. The 5th floor may have some views blocked by the palm trees.
