It's a great little aquarium with plenty of informative displays. They have a ton of tropical fish! I think it's the most in the world. They also have a couple outdoor tanks with sea turtles and juvenile sharks/rays, as well as a touch tank. The volunteer there were very knowledgeable and we had a nice chat with her. By far, our favorite part was the shark tank. It's incredible! We ended up sitting there for at least half an hour and then spent another ten minutes slowly walking through the tunnel.
For me, the major downside to this place was the price. It's pretty expensive, but if you book online ahead of time, you can get a week pass for the cost of a daily admission. That's what we did and since we stayed in Maalaea, it was easy for us to just pop over there and visit a few tanks when we had some spare time.
I'd recommend coming here before you snorkel as it will help you identify fish when you're in the ocean.
