The Ko Olina Marriott Beach club is a 5-star resort in a great location on Oahu. We did not want to spend our vacation in the "concrete jungle" of Honolulu so we opted for the Marriott at Ko Olina, which is about 45 min outside the city. This location is mainly used for Marriott Vacation Owners, but rooms do come open over the internet. The hotel portion of the property is ok, small and few amenities for the price. The 2nd time we visited we stayed in a 1-bedroom and this room was fabulous. A full kitchen, dining area, living room, large bedroom, bathroom with a shower, and separate changing room with a tub. Very clean and we had daily "tidy" service which was more than acceptable. Lots of activities such as exercising, hula lessons, movies on the big screen at night and more. The beach was nice white sand and the lagoon was calm enough for swimming. The only real con was some of the pricing for meals and parking. Breakfast could run you $20-$25 pp and dinner is easily $50 pp and up. We rented a car and self-parking was $40 a night. But I guess you don't stay at a place like this if you are going on a budget vacation. So if you are staying on Oahu and have a few extra $$ to spend, this is a great option.

Our trip may be short but our memories will last a lifetime. We booked a photography session and were not disappointed. Our photographer, Sarah, was a blessing. She worked with our 4 year old like a pro. It was fun, light hearted and above all, easy! Seeing the pictures made us all relish in the beauty we were surrounded by. We could not have asked for a better day. We will be forever grateful for the experience. If you have a chance, book a session; you won't be disappointed!

First time visit as a time share option.

The location is great, in Ko Olina, if you want to avoid the crows and hustle of the tourist.
This can be pro/con, since the beach is quite artificial with a man made lagoon. If you like this b/c no waves and tranquil, great, if not, this is not the place.

The premises are quite sprea out, so this provide a feeling of not being crowded.

This location, is copy/paste of the adjecent three hotels, the four season, the disney hotel, and the ko Olina club. Same lagoon, same rocks, etc.

don't forget to bring your walking/running shoes, EXCELLENT trails.

The beds and pillows definetelly need to be upgraded. that was the only negative side of the hotel.

This is a Marriott "Vacation Club" property and it is important to know the differences from a conventional hotel to establish proper expectations. My review comments are based on a three night stay in late October 2016 as a "non-member" of Marriott's Vacation Club (I booked the room directly through Marriott's web page).

I was given a studio "villa" which is the smaller one-bed room. The room was about the size of a typical hotel room but with a King bed, sofa and small round table with 2 chairs there was little room to maneuver and the room felt very cramped. The very small "kitchenette" had a mini fridge/freezer, coffee maker, toaster and plates, bowls, mugs, glasses and flatware for 2 (less stuff than you would get at a Residence Inn). Overall, the studio "villa" at this property was disappointing considering the price paid. The studio rooms at most newer Residence Inns are superior to this room.

The bathroom was also somewhat small and cramped with a smaller than average vanity area.

The closet was typical of a hotel room, but had no luggage stand so I had to stand my wife’s suitcase on the ironing board to get it off the floor.

Our room had locking dual-doors to the adjacent room which is great if families are staying together and want connecting rooms, but these doors don’t block much sound and so we could hear the conversations and TV in the adjoining room.

Our room had a very small lanai cramped with 2 small outdoor chairs and a small table. The view was disappointing overlooking the adjacent industrial area (imagine a Hawaiian sunrise over port cranes, tanker ships and an oil refinery).

Although the room was very disappointing, the good news is we didn't spend much time in it because the weather was great and we enjoyed the lovely grounds, pool areas, and beach lagoons on the property. There are three pools with one identified as the quiet "reflection" pool. The other 2 pools are more child/family friendly. It was nice having this choice of pool styles. The man-made lagoons and beaches around the lagoons make for nice calm waters to swim and snorkel in. If you are seeking waves to body board on, then this is not the place to be. The lagoons are very calm.

There are 2 restaurants on the property and several others a short drive away. If you are looking to stay on the property to eat, you will quickly find your dining options limited. We did not purchase any of their "spa" treatments, but did observe that the "massage by the sea" is basically given in a tent adjacent to the reflection pool.

My overall rating of "average" is based on context of this being a resort and comparison to other resorts I've been to. There was nothing "wrong" with our stay at this property, it just fell short of my high expectations based on other reviews I read on TA.

For people who are not members of the Marriott Vacation Club, be forewarned you will get the sales "push" to hear their timeshare sales pitch. Also, understand how this property differs from a typical hotel and that they obviously place their time share renters at higher priority to other guests. I am a Platinum level Marriott Rewards customer and received numerous e-mails in the weeks leading up to my arrival reminding me that this property does not offer the Rewards amenities typical to other Marriott properties (like room upgrades or late check-out). For the price paid, this was one of the rare times I’ve been disappointed in my stay at a Marriott property. So if you are not a Vacation Club member, and are looking for a high end resort experience, I would suggest considering the other options either in KoOlina or back in Waikiki.

We stayed in a lovely 2 BR/2 BA penthouse villa with a view of the marina and a bit of the ocean. It was first rate all the way! The rooms were great and very well cared for. The public spaces -- pools, hot tubs, gym, lounges and of the course the beach, were extremely nice. The staff was friendly and helpful too. Note: If you want the hustle bustle of Waikiki, stay there. If you like the quiet and beautiful scenery, stay in Ko Olina. We especially enjoyed the walking path around the other resorts and the calm lagoons. No big waves to get in the way.

Room tip: Mountain view was nice, but get ocean view if you can
