My beautiful wife and I wanted to head to a beach on the west side of Oahu, not a lot of really nice beaches on this side of the island that we know of. Anyway we headed to the west side in search of a good beach. We Disney has a huge hotel complex and so does Marriott and the actually have a huge area developed with shopping etc. After picking up some awesome shirts at Hawaiian Fire store we were told to try lagoon # 4, she said it had a larger parking lot and good chance of getting a parking spot... there are 4 lagoons to choose from. We ended up parking in the yacht club right beside the #4 lagoon for only $10 for the whole day... these lagoons are awesome, the reef walls keeps the large waves from smashing everyone over, but allows the waves to freshen the lagoon water with every wave. There was one passage between two of the reefs that was deeper and would allow large amounts of water in, however they had a large fish net in the lagoon to ensure no predators ( sharks ) could get into the lagoons... it was awesome they way they thought this design though.... lots of trees planted for shade, washrooms available but no cold drink stands, or snacks... bring your own. No lifeguards are on duty either so it’s all on you to be responsible for you and your kids. We loved it no big crowds either.

Use to be better. Now the little parking for people to visit these has become pay parking. Overcrowded and water not exchanged that well. I'm sure this could be a bacteria heaven. Thought all beaches in Hawaii were public. Guess if you build it then they aren't. All ko'olina is expensive. May as well go to Waikiki and pay through the nose as here.

Great for swimming, the sandy bottomed lagoons are wonderfully protected from the surf. While this shore is cooler, the water is so clear and refreshing, you can swim anytime. If you love to swim in the ocean this is the place to do it.

These areas are great for swimming. The area is protected by some rock structures to break the waves so it is calm for swimming next to the resorts. Great areas for children.
