This motel located on Eden Street, which leads into Bar Harbor, is a reasonably priced gem. The property is large and well maintained, with small building each containing 4 rooms scattered throughout the property which helps it feel uncluttered. Plenty of green space for kids and dogs, a heated pool, playground, bocce ball, tree swings, and several tables and chairs means there is a lot to do at the motel in your down time when not taking in bar Harbor or Acadia National Park. There is hiking trail at the back of the motel’s property that leads to one of the Carriage Roads of Acadia which we found to be a great way to enter the park for hiking without having to drive our car every time we wanted to hike. The employees were so helpful and pleasant. They offer hiking equipment rentals such as poles, binoculars, backpacks… The breakfast was “grab and go” but still had a wide variety of things to accommodate every taste. The wild Maine blueberries were a treat whether in the muffins or served fresh. The rooms have a mini refrigerator/freezer, but no microwave, however there is one in the office that can be used. If ever we return to Bar Harbor, we would absolutely stay here again.

Room tip: The laundry is located about halfway through the property. Numbered units in the low 100s are nearer the pool and office.

Thank you for this thoughtful and thorough review. The only clarification we'd like to make is that the equipment "rentals" are free - there is no charge to borrow hiking poles, binoculars, etc. Take care and hope to see you again in the near future.

First - Highly recommend this hotel!
Now, details...my wife and I stayed 4 nites in May 2021 in a 2 bedroom unit. The room was very clean and had all we needed. The motel overall is clean, quiet and the staff is friendly. The morning free breakfast just hits the spot. The motel is very close to Acadia NP entrance and downtown Bar Harbor. Not to mention other restaurants near by. My wife and I have traveled to 47 states and 33 countries on 5 continents. We have stayed at many fancy hotels. We truly enjoyed our stay here! Nice job to all the bar Harbot Motel staff!

Room tip: Get an end unit. All units are super quiet but we liked being on the end.

Couldn’t be happier with this choice. Felt like we were royalty! Love the layout. Backs up to with trails into Acadia. Grab and go breakfast so neatly packaged and laid out. Everything so organized and thoughtful. Have free gear to be checked out. It was perfect!

Glad you mentioned and took advantage of our direct access to the National Park. Our property abuts the national park and there is a short hiking trail that will take you to the carriage roads. Thanks again for leaving a review. It's much appreciated.

Can't remember when we might have stayed in a motel last, but reading the good reviews and proximity to town and Acadia took a chance. Was nice to pull right up to the room with all our gear and not have to schlep thru a lobby and elevator. Clusters of rooms are nicely spread out. Very clean and comfortable. Grab & Go breakfast (due to Covid) was plentiful but mornings were chilly to eat outside & by the time we got back to the room a small microwave would be nice to reheat coffee, bagels, etc. Mini frig was handy since we were there several days. Would highly recommend, an excellent value.

Room tip: Rooms at the rear of the property are near the trail and have less auto traffic but are furthest from the lobby and breakfast.

We agree that a microwave in the rooms would be convenient and we are looking to make that a reality this winter for next season. Space and power are the issues we are trying to overcome. Thank you for the big-hearted words.

I had not stayed in a “motel” in like 20 years, but this place destroyed all of my stereotypes of motels. The rooms were clean and spacious, the staff were super friendly and attentive to detail. Very close to the town and Acadia. Best was the breakfast, which was filling and a good start to the day.

The word "Motel" definitely has some negative connotations associated with it and we are glad we dispelled some of those notions. There was an article not too long ago in the NY Times talking about the comeback of the motel, so we are a little ahead of the curve. Thank you for the nice review.
