“Nice but some suggestions...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 March 2012

We arrived to find our room key left in an envelope on the front desk with no one around. Apparently, the owners went out of town for a few days right before we arrived and left a very young lady in charge. She was very nice but extremely inexperienced and rarely available at the front desk. Our room was lovely with a couple of exceptions - no shade/blind over the bathroom window and a small, very old tv with the picture tube going so half of the picture was green and half was yellow.

After phoning the owners, the solution offered was a large piece of material to drape over the valance in the bathroom; luckily it was large enough to cover the opening. This completed, I returned to the front desk to request extra towels. Due to no one being available, I left a note asking the towels be left on the counter for us to retrieve. No towels were left so we made do with the 2 in the room. The next morning when we managed to catch the young lady at the desk, she said she didn't see our note until the morning but would leave extras ones for us. We went out for the day and returned that evening to find that the owners had returned. An apology was offered for the window treatment with the explanation that a replacement "was on order". We again asked for the towels and the owner accompanied us to the room to get some for us. We opened the room door to find that the room had never been attended to that day, despite our placement of the "please make up our room" sign on the door knob. Again, a feeble apology from the owner along with the towels. We discovered additional towels were previously placed in the bathroom so it was obvious that the young lady had finally dropped them off but neglected to have the room cleaned.

With some improvements, the room would be great. The location of the Inn was nice but too far to walk to the center of town or the pier. The service left much to be desired; the owners need to be sure someone who is qualified is available if they are not. A nice place but needing some attention to details.

Room Tip: We had Room 208 which was away from the main street and above the street noise. Very good location...

My husband and I took his high school jazz band to Bar Harbor for the state jazz festival and we all stayed at the Quimby House Inn. Some inn owners would "quake in their boots" to see all these high school kids coming to stay in a lovely inn, but these inn owners made certain our stay was excellent. They helped everyone get set up in their rooms, made sure the kids had food when they returned late at night and even provided bag breakfasts for them to take to the festival. They were so friendly and even their two adorable young daughters helped. The rooms were very clean, showers were great, decor was very nice. Parking the school bus was easy. I would highly recommend this inn.

Room Tip: We were in 102 and it was lovely and quiet.

Quimby House Inn is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Tim and Danielle Ray are the sweetest innkeepers I've ever met.
The inn is in a perfect mint condition. The interior design welcomes you with its warmth and you simply don't want to leave because you feel like home. The service is excellent and hot coffee with creamer waits for you every morning in the lobby.
In addition, the inn has a perfect location. Among many delicious restaurants, one will find a wonderful opportunity for a great shopping. You will find yourself surrounded by a thrilling nature that welcomes you with a breathtaking sunrise and sunset every day.
As for spa lovers - Quimby Inn is a must stay! Try their deep tissue massage, and believe me, you will consider your vacation one of the most memorable! It feels so good!
Thank you, Tim and Danielle!
Irina, NYC

Room Tip: All rooms are great since they are fulfilled with sunlight!

We arrived in Bar Harbor with no reserved hotel room. We stopped at the local visitor's ctr. we asked for a decent place to stay, not too expensive as we were looking for a place to sleep. Not hang out in. They recommended the Quimby House. We checked in, the desk clerk was very friendly and informative. Gave us suggestions on where to go and where not to go. The location is great, walkable to the Bar Harbor town center. Breakfast within a couple of blocks. One of the cleanest Inn's we've been in! Housekeeping staff is top notch!!! Keep up the good work. We will definitely return to the Quimby House when we return to Bar Harbor in the future. We had a room on the 3rd floor street side, very quiet at night.

spacious, clean accommodations, we had suite 221 in the Annex behind the inn. Good sized bedroom, small kitchen, small living room, small bathroom. Off street parking, great location - midway between downtown and College of the Atlantic. Only complaint was no wi-fi signal in room 221. If you want wi-fi, request room closer to the main inn. Dated decor but fine bathroom - too much water pressure, but can adjust tub/shower lever to lessen it. If you like coffee or tea in a mug, bring your own, they only have tiny tea cups. Overall, nice stay and super location - right behind natural food store and across the street from Hannaford grocery store.

Room Tip: Annex is like a motel, not like an inn. Avoid room 221 if you want wi-fi.

The Quimby House Inn is a moderate sized inn located slightly away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Bar Harbor. It is very easy to walk to attractions, shops and restaurants. There is also a shuttle bus that goes through much of Acadia National Park.
The parking is good, and the rooms have comfortable amenities.

We spent three nights here and were pleased with the downtown location, easy parking, and large room (#104) with nice sitting room connected by door. This first floor room opens to lobby and has easy access to front door. Would be really good for family with children. Two tv's to keep everyone happy. There is another building out back but didn't see interior of those rooms. Nice staff. Coffee in lobby, but no breakfast, however inn is close to everything. Very fairly priced for Bar Harbor. Definately would return.
