“Awesome Adventure”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2011

We were on a cruise that stopped in Bar Harbor. I had read on here about this company and decided to give them a call. From the first email through the day of the climb, I received very prompt personal attention. All questions were answered quickly and satisfactorily. They did require payment up front and I had no problems with the transaction. We are a family of 5 with boys 22, 17 and 15. None of us had ever been climbing before so this was a first. As a mother I was a little nervous, but that was laid to rest quickly. Our guide, Jeremy, was extremely patient and very knowledgeable and had us all at ease quickly. The 15 year old is somewhat afraid of heights but with the support and patience of our guide, this was overcome and he was able to enjoy the day. I want to thank all of you that were involved in our tour, especially Jeremy! It was definitely the highlight of our whole cruise! I hope that we will be in the area again and will be able to do an all day climb with your company!

“The highlight of our trip!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 September 2010

My daughters, age 6 and 5, and I enjoyed an incredible half-day adventure with our guide, Jeremy. Our only previous experience was a couple of visits to a climbing gym. The hike in to South Bubble was wonderful all by itself, and the rock climbing was extraordinary. It was just the right level of challenge with the opportunity to reach the top and enjoy spectacular views of Acadia National Park, Jordan Pond, etc. We can't wait to return to climb again!

“Awesome experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 September 2010

Our guide (Doug) provided a great climbing experience. I'm an experienced climber and my partner is a beginner. Doug chose appropriate routes for both of us and provided just the right level of information and support. Safety was excellent without being obtrusive. Otter Cliffs provides a unique sea cliff climbing experience, at least for the eastern US. We did five routes, including the very fun Great Chimney. One of the highlights of our trip!

“What a Thrill for a couple of beginners”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2010

What can I say, it was Thrilliing, exhillerating, scary, and challenging. BUT shouldnt be missed!! We are fairly fit but had never climbed before., but Ryan C. took very good care of us. The most important thing to consider is the quality of the instructor. Ryan was awesome, as he was very calm, patient, and communicated well. He also has all of the requisite certifications and even teaches climbing in a college setting. We climbed the "bubbles" which had a 5.6 rating. We started with a short climb, just to get used to the idea and even belayed down. ( kinda scary since my wife was controlling the rope.. haha ). Then we decided to go higher ( with a gentle nudge from Ryan ). We climbed all the way to the top using the Pitching technique ( I believe ). Although there were some hairy spots to get through, Ryan talked us through it and we felt safe the entire time. So, if you are up from something off the beaten path, then give climbing a try.

“Exciting, safe introduction to rock climbing in a national park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2010

Our guide was in the office just before 8AM on Sunday to outfit us with the proper gear. The equipment appeared to be new and meticulously maintained. After a ten minute drive we arrived at Acadia's famous Otter Cliffs. The cliffs were not crowded, safe of birds and seals near the ocean. The guide provided patient and thorough instruction on how to tie knots, adjust the gear, and approach the rocks. While climbing, he also provided guidance, as well as encouragement that seemed neither canned or cliched. He was affable, and didn't hesitate to explain geological formations or other interesting points regarding flora and fauna. I would strongly recommend contacting ACS if you're a beginner (like we were) or an experienced climber. You will discover they provide safe, casual and confident climbing instruction.
