It’s for sure worth stopping by if you are in the area. Lots of good food and cute shops. Especially when the weather is good it’s lovely to take a stroll.
We stayed in Fisherman's Wharf area. Lots to see and do. Great choice of cafes and also the accessibility of the trams and cable cars to get around. Definitely worth a visit and a haven for anything shellfish to eat.
We enjoyed seeing the sea lions but found the rest very very touristy and over priced. Had clam chowder in a sour dough bowl. Not the tastiest we have ever had.Two orders and a small coke were $30!!!!!!!
You definitely have to spend half a day to a day at Fisherman's Wharf; one of the nicer areas of San Francisco. There is, of course, the infamous Pier 39 and its Sealions (see my other reviews), and other cool attractions like the local Krispy Kreme shop/restaurant, the Alcatraz tour stop etc. Simply walking around is pleasant as well, and there is lots of information and history everywhere you look. You can get good pictures of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge from lots of locale around the area. The transport to and from the area is also good.
Totally a fun area to spend time whether you’re shopping for souvenirs, watching the seals at Pier 39 or eating! So much to see.
