“Great location, great price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2012

After reviewing this hotel we decided to try it out. We were traveling with 2 children so we booked the 2 bedroom, 1 bath suite. The room was clean, great location - within walking distance to the Wharf, Chinatown, Little Italy and many other attractions. The price was reasonable and free parking came along which is almost unheard of for San Francisco. We enjoyed our time (2 night stay). The only compliant was the road noise, we faced Columbus Avenue which was busy all time of day and night. We would return, just request a room towards the back of the hotel.

Room Tip: Request a room towards the back of the hotel, not facing Columbus Ave.

Choose this hotel for location, price and parking(free). It did not disappoint. We were in a room over the road, but noise was minimal. Room was huge, clean and well maintained. A little dark tough, but we weren't in it that much! Great location. Couple of great little cafes for breakfast as you walk down to the piers. Cable cars, piers buses all within 5 minutes walking. Several big hotels in the area, all of which were much more expensive and parking chargeable. Staff were attentive, but we had no problems that we needed them for! Vending machines available. Rooms cool and serviced well. The area seemed a little seedy but that was due to signs for dancing club etc. never actually say anyone go in there. Starbucks, walgreens, cafes and bars nearby. City tour buses were just down the street and were the best way to get around, sight see. Trams only a duke of blocks over. Loved San Fran. Didn't want to leave and this hotel was just great as a base for our time there.

We were more than pleased with our two night stay at Columbus Motor Inn. It was our first time visiting San Francisco.

We booked this place for the free parking, and location central to lots of attractions. The price was so reasonable, that it almost scared us away. I am glad that we decided to go with it. We were able to access public transportation of all kinds either right out front or a couple of blocks away. We could also walk to many places from here. Chinatown, Fishermans Wharf, tons of places to eat, it felt like a totally safe place to walk around at night.

The room was very large, on the third floor as requested, with a king size bed, large flat screen tv, new looking carpets, comfortable bed, and clean and good condition bathroom. All of the linens and towels were in very good condition, and the mattress looked new. We had a large picture window overlooking Columbus Ave, that opened for fresh air. We could see Coit Tower, and peeks of the Bay. The internet in our room worked just fine once we logged on.

We commented to each other several times about what a great choice we had made staying at the Columbus Motor Inn and would recommend it to anyone.

Good place EXCEPT for the showers on the other side of the wallS that began very early and went on and on. Desk staff was good, even great (day staff). Hotel is clean & comfortable enough; room had a big window & fresh air possible; parking space found in view of the check-in area, great, but the 2 upper parking floors are found by accident, wd need directions from the desk staff.

Location is fine, 4 blks from Fish. Wharf and so on; a Safeway 2-3 blks away, restaurants 2+ blks away and continuing. City transp. goes past--a main street.

Room Tip: Ask clerks about getting away from early morning shower noises. Maybe a corner room? I don't k...

I have been to San Francisco multiple times for business and always had stayed at 4 star+ hotels. This trip was non business related and with a tight budget. After reading all the great reviews from tripadvisor, I booked a double room at this hotel. Let me tell you something, I was not disappointed! This is a small, budget friendly hotel that provides free parking (in San Francisco you can expect to pay $40+ /night for hotel parking). It is walking distance to many attractions including the trolley line. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The furniture is dated but in good conditions. The staff members were very friendly and helpful. I was so pleased with this place that I would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

We stated here after reading great reviews and weren't at all disappointed. We requested a room with a view of Alcatraz (310) and were given one. We checked in at 3am and their was a parking space and staff waitin for our arrival. Our room was big and whilst you could hear some traffic from the road it didn't disturb or keep us awake. The hotel is 5 mins from Fishermans Wharf and 10 from pier 39. Trams and tour buses are within 5 mins too. For what we paid and to include free parking (whilst the holiday inn 1 block away charges $30 a night) and free and easy to use wifi this hotel was cheap and surprisingly convenient. I would recommend it to everyone and will def be back!

My wife and I booked two nights at the Columbus Motor Inn, primarily because of its location and the fact that it has a garage for guests' vehicles. We lucked out on both counts. The Columbus was easy to find, convenient to just about everything a tourist would want to see or do, had comfortable and roomy accommodations (our room -- #101 -- even included a cozy balcony overlooking the avenue), and as a major plus boasted one of the all-time most helpful, pleasant and engaging desk clerks we've ever encountered. Noah really knows the town, can point you to the best places to eat in Chinatown, North Beach and Fisherman's Wharf, and is an endless fount of helpful tips on getting around San Francisco's maze-like street system. Highly recommended!
