This seems pretty close to authentic Chinese (I am thinking of the food at state run hotels outside of Beijing or Qingdao). I was the only non-Asian there. Food was bland despite ordering a szechuan meal. Ambiance is basically a dive. Not a good value. Open late.

If the locals eat there it can't be all bad! Just enjoyed a really tasty dinner for 4 with way more than you could realistically eat including drinks for $85 including tip! Decor is basic but staff really pleasant and couldn't find any fault whatsoever with the food!

Would recommend if you want cheap and cheerful and would definitely go back

When in Chinatown stop in for some amazing authentic Chinese Food here. You know it is good when you walk in and the place is about 98% full. The service was great as well. Thank you.

Chef Hung is one of these hidden restaurants in San Francisco Chinatown. Locals go there for lunch and dinner. Its been at least over 2 and a half years since I visited this eatery.

The environment and customer services are not high end, but deliver basic good and economic food for the late night people. They do great lunch businesses for the suit & tie folks from the financial district near by. Its wise to ask the server what's good on the daily menu.

My friends and I order seafood clay pot, fresh steamed fish, ginger chicken, black bean clams, and, tomato fried noodle. The food price was just right and not hurt us or the traveling tourists on budget!

Try Chef Hung off the main drag of Grant Avenue and Clay Street. Cant go wrong.

Some steep steps down to the restaurant, but they have a separate handicapped entrance. Extensive menu with lunch specials. We all had different dishes and all voted they food was great. By the time we left, the restaurant had filled and we were the only Caucasians there the whole time - obviously a local favorite! Very nice servers and cashier personnel, too. Right in the heart of the Chinatown district.
