During our city tour our guide highly recommended Tony’s Pizza Napoletana as being the best pizza in San Francisco. By the time the tour ended it was lunch time. Upon arrival we quickly learned how popular the place is. We were told it would be an hour wait so we left our name and number. They use a system through Yelp where we can keep an eye on our place in line and send a text when you’re approximately 5 minutes from getting your table. This was handy as we waited in Washington Square across the street which is a nice park.

Upon being seated we selected a Peroni beer, calamari fritti and Great Grandma pizza. It was all absolutely delicious! The calamari was crispy battered and was very tender. Pieces were a nice bite size.

We then ordered the Great Grandma pizza as our main course.

aiello mozzarella, sweet tomato sauce, 24 month aged prosciutto di parma, 24 month aged parmigiano reggiano, castelvetrano cured olives, 7 year sandeman port reduction, micro greens, spicy nduja, romano, oregano, garlic oil. She’s aged to perfection.

This pizza was delicious! Everything from the crust to the freshness of our toppings. I wish we had a place like this back home.

We highly recommend eating at Tony’s Pizza Napoletana when in San Francisco. You may need to wait around an hour or more but it’s well worth the wait. I overheard another customer mention they booked a reservation online through Yelp.

Protip: use the Yelp App to get put onto a waitlist, guaranteed it will be at least 90 minutes. So do it 90 minutes ahead of when you want to eat, then go sight see or relax, then Uber there.

This pizza is billed as Authentic Napoli pizza and it delivers. We had their world championship Margarita pizza and it was awesome. They have multiple different types of pizza based on the cooking temperature and type of oven to choose from. We have a local pizza place call Mercurios that rivals this place. It was awesome.

Great selection of all different types of pizza. Not sure it matched up to the hype, but had a great time.

We visited this restaurant because of the pizza awards it had won, we were happy with the food although overpriced. We paid the bill and left over 15% in tip, the suggested tips had been highlighted on the bill and it appeared the waiter had pre assumed that as we were tourists we weren’t going to leave a tip. As we were leaving the table a couple from our group had the waiter rudely approach them to tell them that the tip is not included in the bill and pointed out the highlighted numbers. This completely ruined our experience at this restaurant. We had double checked the amount we had left before paying the bill and leaving a tip so I am very confident that we did not make a mistake. I can only assume that he had incorrectly counted the money left with the presumption he had clearly made about tourists. I will not be returning on my next visit to San Francisco.

I waited over an hour and half for an ok pizza. Super packed over priced pizza place. Meatballs and salad were quite tasty.
Waiter was very nice.
