Food is very bland here. Not terrible. But just very ordinary.

If you want decent food. Nothing to write home about. Then this is the place for you.

Simply delicious and highly recommended! The cod was absolutely divine and melted in my mouth. My friends raved about the octopus and oysters and the drinks we delicious.

The Salt House lives among a legion of somewhat upscale bistros in SF, catering to...well, upscale tech types who crave "casual" bistro fare in a hip setting. We enjoyed the atmosphere (casually chic), the appetizer (roasted chiles), and salads. My tagliatelle pasta main was good but not exceptional and my wife's English pea ravioli was good but lacked adequate sauce. Our waitress was professional and friendly, albeit a bit slow to serve and check water glasses, etc (it's not called salt house for nothing). Prices seemed middle of the road for SF (if higher for the rest of the World). You won't be disappointed, but you won't be thrilled either.

A friend made the reservation for a Saturday night dinner. The space is nice, but the food is very average and so is the service.

It's our first time to dine at Salt House. Surprisingly , the place was not packed on a Friday night . The bar was not full but I can just imagine the crowd during happy hour. We were seated at the second floor . We ordered the poutine, octopus, fois gras creme brûlée and the cheesecake for dessert. Service was great.
