We typically stay at Westin St Frances, but decided to try this right across the street on Post. Great romantic spot. Nice breakfast every morning, staff friendly. We were upgraded to a suite which was a plus bc so many rooms in SFO small! I agree with the one elevator issue like others have mentioned, but we were never in a hurry so no biggie.

Do not get this confused with Hotel Union Square BTW. That place is awful!

Just got back from a whirlwind trip of California and must say that this hotel was one of the best we stayed at. Typically San Francisco interior, the staff were incredibly friendly, approachable and helpful. Special mention to Anne and Omar who would go above and beyond to ensure you have a great stay. They were also very informative about the San Fran area and recommended places to go and eat. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The location is also prime, being in the heart of San Fran just on the corner of Union Square. Do not have a bad word to say about the Inn, seriously consider staying here if you're visiting San Fran. Oh and don't forget the wine and cheese everyday at 5pm. Thanks for a great stay!

Room Tip: The further away from the street you are, the quieter your sleep is.

Stayed here for a few days last April. The reviews on Trip Advisor are spot on! A real gem of a hotel in SF very near Union Square so location is great but the best part is the service! The friendliest, most efficient staff we have ever met! Josie, Leo, Joseph, Ann all went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable! The breakfast was very nice especially the pastries, although the place was a bit small. Our room was a good size and very elegantly decorated, we felt like we were in a Paris boutique hotel. And the wine reception in the evening was a good way to meet some of the guests! Can't wait to go back!

A good hotel in a great location with excellent value.

Location: Excellent, near the corner of Powell and Post

Staff: Genuinely friendly and helpful

Room: Was a little small and lacked good bathroom ventilation but otherwise was clean and nicely furnished.

Value: Outstanding. Ask for the AAA discount if you have a membership. Free breakfast with lots of fresh pastries, hard boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt, tea and coffee. Free wine tasting in the evening with lots of cheeses and grapes etc.

The wine tasting was a great way to socialize and meet other guests.

I would return to this hotel.

Room Tip: Consider an upgrade to a larger room if space is a priority. Also ask for the AAA discount if you have a membership.

The overall rating in my opinion is a little above average even good but definitly not very good: The location is excellent, walking distance of shops and musea, public transport next door. The suite: two lovely rooms, nice bed ,nice furniture.
But:for the 6 floors there is one elevator which also is the service elevator,if you are in a hurry take the stairs. The service of the reception was excellent but the service of the roomcleaning could be better organized, somehow they always wanted to do our room when we came back from being away several hours. There was a lot of noise from the breakfast/wine area in our rooms, being next to it.There is no safe in the room ,only downstairs at the reception.
We had twice a severe plumbing problem with the toilet, which they fixed immediatly, but still was not a nice experience.
I cannot compare this hotel with other innercity hotels in SF,part of my critcs are because this hotel is in an old building which is very charming but has his negative points. We had a lovely stay but I felt I had to mention the drawbacks.

Room Tip: Not close to the breakfast corner
