Our family group of 6 (including 2 little kids, grandpa, and a college-age neice) stayed at this beautiful house in September 2010, and were very happy with everything. The house is very well-appointed, with super-high ceilings in the living room, an eat-in kitchen with big windows, and a lovely patio with a stunning view of the rock formation that gives Castle Valley its name. The place seemed brand-new. It's located towards the end of a quiet road. It's reasonably close driving distance to Moab and Arches, which we visited during the days.
This place would be ideal for families or groups of adults and older kids. For traveling with little kids (1 and 4, in our case), it was somewhat less than ideal because there were a lot of breakable western-themed knick-knacks on the shelves throughout the house, and because there were no railings on an outside stair and porch that were accessible from the patio. We managed by sticking all the knick-knacks out of reach (almost all - one little horse that we somehow missed was broken by our kids; thankfully the owner didn't charge us anything for that), and keeping a close eye on the kids when they were outside. It's quite possible that the porch and outside stairs have since acquired railings (as I wrote earlier, the place seemed brand new, so maybe this last bit of construction was still to come) -- I would recommend that anyone with kids inquire with the owner about this.
It was so nice to be in this beautiful place, with our own beautiful kitchen, able to cook and barbecue and eat dinner and breakfast outside with such a gorgeous view -- we felt very lucky to have stumbled upon this place. I wish all our vacation rentals worked out this well!
