My husband read about this museum and decided to visit after we had visited Arches National Park. There were a lot of pictures, movie posters and movie memorabilia from the different movies that were filmed in the area. One hundred twenty movies have been filmed in the area including Rio Grande with John Wayne and one of the last movies filmed in the area was Lone Ranger with Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer.

This is a very small museum, but its free, so why not. Nice little summary of movies that have been filmed in the area. Highlight was seeing some of the actual movie clips on the reel they have running.

What a great surprise to find this very interesting film museum. My parents were great fans of John Wayne so we had seen many of his movies. What an added bonus to stand and walk around where some of these were filmed and see some of the props from the films.
The museum itself is downstairs to the left as you enter the lodge. It is full of excellent film memorabilia not only from the John Wane era, but over the more recent past. Some of the scenes from Thelma and Louise were filmed here with the epic scene of them driving the car into the canyon filmed on the cliffs near the lodge. As well as many more.
You can stroll around here for 30mins and also site and watch the short films and trailers that run continuously. We found ourselves here after supper and sat and enjoyed the atmosphere for a while.
Even if you are not staying at the lodge it is worth a stop to visit.

Revisit the old West. Great old posters, photos, Western movie paraphernalia, costumes, videos about stars and locals who made films in the area of Moab. Worth an hour in the beautiful setting of this inn. Eat at the restaurant while you're there and visit the winery on the same property. Horses for hire as well.

We went for the winery, ended up having dinner, then had the bonus of the film museum. This stop was one of our favorites for the area.
