Though the hotel is in the middle of Asheville, and yes, the rooms are large, I would absolutely not stay here. I had a problem with the bill at check-in and ask to see the manager at 3pm. No luck, she was gone for the day, but front desk staff took a message and said she'd call. Next day, even after 2-3 polite attempts to contact her, no call back. Finally, I have to call the hotel at 11pm on my third day staying there because that's the only time the manager was in-house. The linens are cheap, the hotel doesn't appear to have been renovated since 1987, and the level of service is absolutely not commensurate with the price. Do your self a favor, stay somewhere else!

HaywoodParkMgmt, Manager at Haywood Park Hotel, responded to this reviewResponded July 8, 2011

We are sorry that you were not satisfied with your stay at our hotel. We regret that you did not arrive on the date you reserved the week prior and that your failure to call to cancel resulted in a room charge. We are remorseful that you did not feel a 25% discount was sufficient. Unfortunately, we were unable to acquiesce to your incredible proposition for a free stay the following weekend. We are sad that you actually stayed 2 days and not the 3 days you note. We regret that your version of interaction with management was not as you state. In fact, we offered you complimentary continental breakfast, a bottle of wine or champagne. We express regret that you were not pleased with just painted rooms or our new 300 thread count sheets, luxury pillows, hardware, and flat screen TV. We are forlorn that you did not appreciate the freshly painted lobby as well as new furniture and carpet. We are also sad that you did not have the opportunity to visit our state-of-the-art fitness center. Finally, we are dismayed that you did not value the high level of customer service extended to you – customer service for which our guests compliment us day-in and day-out.

This hotel was beautiful with great service. The people at the desk were so warm and friendly and very professional. I thought the water and champagne when you checked in gave an extra point or two.
The room was very bright and spacious. The amenities, spa and gym were great. Lots of equipment. What a treat.

Next to that were the truffles!!

I'd surely recommend it if you want a nice hotel with great people!

We stayed in the Haywood Park Hotel and it was a great experience. The staff was courteous and extremely friendly. The rooms were very clean and well maintained... The bathroom and spa tub = HEAVEN! The chocolates on the bed at night were great too!! I felt like a queen while I was there. I would definitely go back!!!

This hotel used to be a department store but they turned it into heaven. Each floor has a large open space in the middle and all the rooms open into it so there is no hallway noise. It is close to everything in downtown Asheville.
