An old professor said: Location-Location-Location for investing in real estate. He might have been right but he may have forgotten the rule of upkeep.
Haywood Park has the location. No question. Not that it was dirty but simply dated for the expense ($230/night at high time and last minute due to emergency). We wanted to be in the middle of Asheville and we were but paying that much for the old world (See the TV shot...I think they bought it in the 80's) and just other OLD touches throughout.
This was a department store at one time and you can tell by the layout of the rooms. All pushed out to the exterior with huge lobby's full of OLD furniture and plastic plants.
Service was excellent but to be frank we only saw 2 employees and the one, Ross was very accommodating.
If this were in the $150 range it might be worth paying for location-location-location. But, it was Asheville and their high season.More
