Fan’il Hall is a must for those who’ve done the Freedom Trail or heading to the North End and want to check out Quincy Market. It’s touristy, yes, but always eclectic and fun. There’s great food around, entertainers and fun shopping. I never tire of popping in to see what’s happening. It’s great for families and singles alike. If it’s not your thing than there’s plenty to do around you. Ie North End, restaurants and pubs, water front fun. It’s what Boston is about!

In addition to the history, there are tons of reasonably priced food, jewelry, and just about any other kind of merchant. It's huge and a particularly great way to spend the time on a rainy day, as it's only a short distance between the two large buildings the house most of these businesses. The only caution is that the outside paths are brick and can be less that ideal if wearing high heels or have mobility problems in general.

It’s not a bad visit if you are in the area but it was a bit less than we expected. We had already been walking around for a bit and seen almost everything somewhere else.

When I brought Anne to the US for the first time, our first stop was Boston and I had to find somewhere for her to try all the classic American foods.

The NY style bagel and cream cheese went over well, as did the root beer float, but she drew the line at “peanut butter explosion”.

It’s worth walking through if you happen on it but wouldn’t say it’s a must. Just a long hallway with tons of food, nothing seemingly special to the place you can’t find millions of other places.

The museum and shop are worth the stop. Behind it, there is the Market which is also great to see and taste. There are a variety of restaurants (some chains and some local). I suggest sampling the local ones, and get a taste of Boston.
