Nice location very close to Chinatown and two blocks from Subway station. Room was spacious and had very contemporary/modern amenities. Loved the body butter moisturizer that was included with the toiletries. Only complaint is that the bathroom lacked a fan which was not convenient for hot showers or #2s and free wifi was only available in the hotel lobby. Elevators were quick though!

My wife and I stayed here over our anniversary on a month long trip through NYC, New England, Canada and the east coast. The hotel looks nice enough and has lot's of "wannabes" trying to act cool at the bar and lounge. We were put on the 14th floor in the corner suite that we booked after I refused to stay on the 4th floor where they tried to put us upon check in. Even on the 14th floor, the noise on the street was ridiculously loud being graduation weekend in Boston. The room itself was large, but the "soaking tub" which we booked it for barely held one (petite) person. One whole side of the room was windowed, but the curtains had to manually drawn each night which was a right hassle which involved climbing over the couch to complete the chore properly. The staff were a tad arrogant, and that included the 4 guy's acting as doormen who simply just stood outside the hotel chatting and doing stuff all, and looked like they were in pain when asked to do something. There was no free wifi in the room (the only hotel on a month long trip that didn't offer it for free) at $350 odd a night I thought this was pathetic and super scummy of the W. Each time my wife and I had a drink in the bar, our room was charged $50 on top of the drinks amount as a "deposit", this took a week to be refunded to my credit card which was unacceptable as we had numerous drinks down there prior to going out and the "deposit" totalled $400. All in all there are loads of better hotels to stay at in Boston that will be of a higher standard at a cheaper rate and without the arrogant tosser's that seemed to frequent this
establishment.

We travel to Boston every summer for food and fun. This year, we picked the W because of the location and brand ( We are Starwood Gold Members). This hotel was in the most perfect location for our family of four: situated right at the entrance to China Town, walking distance to Quincy Market, Newbury St and the Commons. The staff was SO helpful and the room was a great size. We walked to Commons in less than 10 minutes and watched the fireworks with the locals. We will be back!

When we registered online, we wrote that we were celebrating a birthday. At nine o'clock on the night of our stay, the hotel unexpectedly delivered a birthday card and cupcake. How great is that?! The modern decor, perfect pillows, and Bliss toiletries enhanced our visit at W.

Staff is super & attentive to special requests, there the best in the W Hotel chain and really pay attention to their repeat clients, they even remember special occasions. I have stayed there frequently since their opening. The Spice Market restaurant is fantastic! A taste of New York's finest inBoston. The room I stayed in had touch screen controls and ceiling to floor windows with great views of Boston. The valet staff is a cut above and also remember clients who have visited multiple times. I have stayed there for business and pleasure and the Hotel remains excellent. My wife and I look forward to our W Hotel in Boston visits. This is the coolest place that conservative Boston has to offer. There is always a great vibe in the living room and the property is spotless. Everybody should try the Acura MDX shuttle this is arriving in style to your destination in luxury! The best part is it's free only the W has this feature.

We did a two-night stay at the W, Sunday-Tuesday, using Starwood points.

Upon arrival, the valet was prompt and friendly, but also was quick to note the $44/night cost for parking. While I found it a bit outrageous, my wife noted that she was paying $40/night to park at the Westin Copley at least as far back as in 2005 when she would stay there for business. So I guess it's just the cost of parking at an upper-level Boston hotel.

Check-in was smooth, and they offered us 500 extra points if we didn't have our room made up each day. We accepted, but more on this later.

Despite being told we had to use our key in the elevator to access our floor, we could go to any floor without using the key. Poor security or do they disable this procedure when the hotel isn't full of weekend bar-scene types who aren't guests?

Having just stayed at the W in Austin (the one with the windows that fall out!), we appreciated the lighter and more airy decor. While the Austin W was dark and brooding, this one was the opposite. The room was perfectly sized for the two of us, plenty roomy. It may be small by standard hotel sizes, but it wasn't noticed by us. King (or was it a queen?) bed, bathroom with shower, A/C was blowing cool when we walked in. The light didn't work in the water closet, but it was fixed straightaway while we were out.

Biggest complaint that I had was our 8th floor room faced Stuart street (main street, front of hotel) and I could hear the sirens and car alarms at night. They didn't bother my wife, so depending on your tolerance for nighttime noise, you may want to ask for a room away from the main street. We didn't experience bar- or restaurant-related noise on Sun or Mon nights.

I was disappointed that the Acura valet service shuts down at 4 pm on weekdays. We wanted to use it to go to Cambridge, but could not. It runs later on weekends, and the friendly concierge said they are trying to get the service to extend weekday hours.

Despite the 500 points for not making up our room agreement, our room was made up on Monday. Apparently the check-in staff didn't actually note it in our folio. Odd. We ended up still getting the points, but it's odd that they couldn't make this work properly.

We did not eat at the hotel, rather had all meals out. We did have drinks one night at the bar. Mine were fine but my wife had a virgin bloody mary that was mere tomato juice. Upon complaining the bartender sampled it, apologized profusely, and whipped up a fresh (and spicy) one immediately.

The Sweat gym is a nice facility that is far better than most hotel gyms. It was bigger than the W Atlanta Midtown, but tiny compared with the W Austin.

Given our use of Starwood points to stay here I I can't really comment on $$ value. It was worth the points over staying at the Westin Copley (which we've stayed at before), IMHO. The W's nicer furnishings and amenities, and being a smaller and less crowded hotel stood out for us. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Try to get a room that doesn't face Stuart street if nighttime noise is intrusive.
